It was a joy to finally see Gary sharing some of the lead duties with the actual cast, if only for a short time. True - I think Joe Public is honestly gonna think he's in it! Anyway, good performance, similarly looking fwd to this.

Wonderful song, wonderful performances - I'm quite possibly sold on this. (I am wary of seeing musical versions of films I love - I've had my fingers burnt countless times on this and usually hated the stage adaptations)

I think this will do much better than people originally thought.

I shall certainly book as soon as I think there's a reasonable chance of a train service on the day! Have wanted to see this for so long + was delighted about the London transfer so ironic if it turned out to be a case of "So near and yet so far".

Somehow I doubt ticket sales will reflect that. The advance is incredibly strong. The advance is strong, this is true... but Hamilton hasn't even gone on sale yet, and that will undoubtably sell out its inital booking period within a few weeks or less and extend before it has even opened.

Shall we try not to drag Hamilton into this thread please? Some people are pleased this is opening, some people aren't - now that we've established that, maybe it's time to move on.
I finally booked tickets for this yesterday - taking the parents and in-laws... there's a nifty discount for over 65s which we've taken advantage of.

Why are we comparing Hamilton to The Girls? Scroll up a few comments, George was the one who first brought up Hamilton by saying this was more anticipated than that show according to The Stage or something... that is where the easy comparison was drawn. I don't see how I am the one critised for bringing up Hamilton, but there you go.. I agree, lets move on and just discuss this show. I look forward to seeing what is is like, I imagine it will run at least a year and a half so will have plenty of chance.

Erm, I personally didn't say it was more anticipated than Hamilton but I simply stated it obviously had a lot of interest. Go on The Stage website and see the poll and The Girls has won the poll ahead of Hamilton - I literally just reiterated that!!

For the love of god someone move this conversation back to The Girls before I implode.

My comment wasn't quoting you specifically Daniel, as you point out there were a couple of posts referencing Hamilton.

How does a rag tag, volunteer band of women used to jam making, end up naked behind home baking

This show is going to be such a British show but so good...I can tell. In very good shape.
The songs are amazing and all mean something

This show is also excellently cast!! All cast are amazing and are great in their roles.
It wasn't definitely the right decision to open the show without a "celebrity" headliner but the good thing is that this show is flexible meaning in a year or two into the run, they could cast a celebrity in any of the main roles (even if it isn't Annie or Chris) but I still think opening the show with this MT cast is a good decision.

Possibly a bit cynical, but do you think they've gone MT over celebrity casting as possible celebrity may overpower the Gary Barlow persona when marketing the show.

I'm also expecting complaints from people who think Barlow will be in the show. He's been in all the photo shoots and performances. I understand why but it's a bit much.
