“Prior to returning to the West End”. Really? Really? I’ve no doubt it will EVENTUALLY but I’m sure we could survive 10 years of new shows before that happens. It definitely won't be returning to the West End, unless they've got money to burn. What a weird thing for them to say. Normally just saying a U.K. tour will happen is enough to soften the blow for people.

Nobody is pringing to mind for a (good) 'star' Jenna. To be honest i think given her X Factor and Eurovision fame Lucie Jones is a good name to tour with it anyway, if she wanted to.

Yeah I could see Lucie doing it, although I don’t think she’s well known enough to sell tickets on her name alone. Also will she want to? But maybe it won’t need a name to sell well on the tour? I could see them going with Amber Davies but I personally don’t think she’s got the vocal chops either.

Booked closing night. This show is so special to me but I knew it wouldn’t be here forever but I’ll be sure to catch the tour many times and be back to the West End plenty more before the end.

It's a very cheap show to stage all-in-all.

I honestly don’t see them getting a smaller theatre unless it’s as filler

I am shocked to see this going to Ipswich. Ipswich is a small stage. It will probably have to be reworked with no onstage band. The set is very minimal, so it might work.

It closes on my birthday! Briefly contemplated going to the final performance but then decided that whilst I enjoyed I didn't love it that much, but I'll definitely catch it at Woking!

I think this was the consensus of what they might do by announcing a long closing period. It gives them a fair chance to sell tickets but isn't an indefinite booking period.
The tour is about 33 venues so that will likely last about 9 months with weeks off and maybe a longer run at opening venue if we assume they do a week in each city. So we are talking that running well into spring/summer 2021 if it starts later next summer especially as it may not run over Xmas or could go into a theatre for a longer run next December.
That gets us to summer 2021 and Producers could see what venues are available then either to go in for another stint or maybe a short stop off when the tour ends.

I’ve a feeling we may be disappointed with the tour cast.. They’re going to go with a ‘name’ I reckon.

Tour Jenna ideas?
Lyn Paul maybe? 😂
Jodie Prenger (at least she could sing it 🤭)
Jodie Steele if she wanted to do another tour, and her boyf could do Pomatter? Stunt cast a couple of the others to bring in the celeb hungry casuals.

‘Returning to west end” is just waffle.. they want to make its closing look as positive as possible. It won’t be returning.

Jaqueline Jossa, (Eastenders, currently on I'm A Celeb) posted a video in the summer of her singing SUTBM quite nicely.
I'd be straight onto her for the tour if it were up to me. Pull in the oldies from Eastenders, and the new younger crowd who have enjoyed her on I'm A Celeb. She's got a decent following online aswell. Seems a good pull if you ask me....
I'd rather it be full of MT actors, but something is going to have be stuntcasted if this is going to do well on tour.

^Jossa could easily be Queen Of The Jungle this year as she is connecting well with the viewership apparently so in terms of stunt casting that is a shrewd call, latefortheoverture

I know you’re being facetious, but stranger things have happened, considering she was cast as a Russian wife in Chess, and they did cast Jordin Sparks on Broadway (their voices aren’t a million miles apart). She does have another theatre project on the way but this seems very unlikely though. Surely Lucie would be a good bet? She shifted tickets for the Legally Blonde tour didn’t she?

Just hunted Jacqueline Jossa’s SUTBM out from her insta! I mean, she can sing, but her voice seems a bit too classically trained for Jenna idk! Also doesn’t she have young kids, so probably wouldn’t want to do an extensive tour (if she’s even on the producers radar 😆 ) www.instagram.com/tv/B14ScsWhLiR/?igshid=1iysy4zjvxtns

I fear that they will play the Edinburgh Playhouse. If a tour plays that stage on the same tour as one where they play the Ipswich Regent, one where the stage is one of the smallest in the UK, it seems a little worrying that it will get lost on the Playhouse's huge stage.
Edit: Also, Nadine Coyle as Jenna, anyone?

I’m wondering if they will want Lucie to close out the London run or ask KMP to return as she is doing for Broadway.

Lucie has said before that she is eager to play Elphaba. Waitress closes on July 4th, and the next Wicked cast change is July 18th. Would it fit for her to do Wicked next year?

I’d like to see Natalie McQueen as Jenna, just a thought.
