But that presumably means that Lucie is not coming back, unlike David? Given they announced an exyension for her already only till January? It seems odd. Lucie seemed so excited to get the role and really invested in it so it seems odd she would leave not even 8 months in.

I’m really excited to see Sara again in this show again - I didn’t see the best of her when I saw her on broadway because she was sick the night I went and her vocals were not really there as a result, so it’ll be great to see her when she’s healthy, and slaying those vocals! Ironically I have had a Dec trip to NYC booked for months and was fully expecting Sara to close Waitress on broadway and see her then, but now I get to see Kat over there again and Sara over here. Double bonus!! 😍
Is Lucie returning after Sara finishes her stint do we know?

I've just booked the end of row A dress seat with the safety rail in view for January 27th. Worst case, I get the first night of whoever the new Jenna is, even if it's not Sara.
Sara/Gavin would be fun, but I won't cry if it's not him. If it turns out to be Jeremy (very unlikely, I'd have thought) I might scream though. In the best possible way.

He’s super egotistical, and him spilling the news about Sara and Gavin just seems mean spirited when they’re officially announcing it on Monday! I wonder if he even knows for sure and is just taking an educated punt based on rumours! It’s quite likely that more people will discover the information from this thread than from C Woodward’s Twitter, but no one complains about predictions or unofficial leaks here. Most people enjoy them! The difference being people on here will say it's a rumour/say they've heard it from xyz, not just post it as an announcement for attention (particularly for a show that they so openly hate)

I thought this was supposed to have closed by October? Didn't someone tell us that? People were saying it was gonna close after 3 months so ...... 😄🤷🏻♀️ I think these predictions were made at the time when Waitress insisted on high prices and no discounting. Since it started discounting plus £25 tod.tix tickets, the game changed a bit

Heard a few whispers that Todrick Hall is coming over from Broadway as Ogie.

Rumours of Sara and Gavin are tempting but if it's someone like Todrick that would actively turn me away from seeing it, cannot stand the man.

Agreed with the poster above. Sara & Gavin would be wonderful (though Jeremy instead would be a dream). Todrick however would be a complete repellent. Don’t like him at all as a performer, and based on what i’ve heard he’s not a very pleasant person either.

I wish it was Shoshana Bean or Alison Luff.

I wish it was Shoshana Bean or Alison Luff. I would die if it was Shoshana! I've become a tiny bit obsessed with her recently. Literally listening to her as I read this comment and while I am subsequently writing this one.

Saw 9 to 5 this week and all I could think was that Chelsea Halfpenny would make a cracking good Jenna once Sara leaves.

Point for enthusiasm but the news is already widely known and I don't get why hint about the announcement that sort of tells anyone who didn't know who it is

Yes, which has made the announcement tomorrow pretty pointless.

Sites are reporting that both David and Lucie will be returning following Gavin and Sara’s stint.
Also new posters have gone up around town with Jessie and Drew (this is also the current image on the website). Waitress marketing is so confusing!

I would love to hear the conversations that happened with Waitress management and Lucie/David when this ‘break’ was put to them ...
‘Please don’t forget to mention it’s a pre-planned break, and also mention you have other work already lined up whilst you’re not in the show’ ... anything to avoid a repeat of Laura-gate! 😂🙈
Can’t say I blame them though, it’s a business at the end of the day and if this helps boost profits and keeps the show running I understand why they have done it! Although Sara and Gavin will only appeal to a certain, small minority of potential ticket buyers? 🤔

David will be going into his 2nd year in the show and we don't know how long his and Lucie's contracts are for. Gavin has done West End before and as an Olivier and Tony winner is a great name to get in the show. Also Sara as the writer will generate some interest.
I'm not a fan of people leaving then coming back after a few weeks. This sort of casting would have been ideal when a David or Lucie had finished their run.
Laura is leaving soon too so contracts must be different lengths.
Still show will make it into its 2nd year so must be doing pretty well.

Not going to lie, I am so excited about seeing Sara! Have booked a cheap seat for 11th Feb and hope that there are discounts available at the time if I want to go again.

It's an exciting casting for me and it's enough to make me go back for a second viewing, which I wasn't previously planning. I don't think it will set the Box Office ablaze though, the diehard fans will be pleased but it doesn't have much reach beyond that. The reaction in my office was very much 'Who?' and 'What's Waitress?'. Time will tell if it's enough to sell 72,000 seats across those 6 weeks...
