Dan Buckley has said on his most recent YouTube video about rejection in the industry that he was very close to being cast in Waitress, he got very far in the audition process, and it was one of the few times he was genuinely gutted not to get the role.
I'm guessing, of the male roles, Ogie? Would of been a HUGE step up from Jack!
He also spoke of a time he went in to audition for a show (he censored the name of it) and he got a phone call saying he was just too fat to play the role, so he will never audition for that show again.

It could have been Ogie, however I personally think that he would suit the role of Cal a little more so. Having said that, I'm sure he would have been brilliant at both role's. |

I'm looking to book tickets for a Wednesday matinee. Does anyone know if Katharine McPhee is usually scheduled for Wednesday matinees? Has anyone ever sat in seats K19 and K20 in the dress circle? Are they decent seats?
Sorry for all of the questions I've just never been to the Adelphi before.

I’ve just been listening to some audios that have popped up on youtube and I think it would be criminal not to do a cast recording with Katharine. Her voice really is just insane.

Well this is a good point, why is Jack getting a pass for being a sh*t singer in a West End musical? Usually reviewers don't care if they call someone out for vocal performance.

Sure, he does the acting side pretty well, but are the producers REALLY unable to find someone who can both act *and* sing the role? This isn't amdram, where you only have so many men available to you and have to slot them into the roles as best you can and this almost certainly will lead to compromise, this is London's glittering West End with sky-high prestige and ticket prices to match. There must be hundreds (or at least dozens) of super-talented individuals just desperate for a break who could perform a role like Ogie, both acting and singing, in their sleep.

Also on the above people were quick enough to bitch about KMP not being a British actress, but somehow he gets a pass when, as above there's dozens of comedic supporting actor types who can sign their face off as well

He got a pass for several reasons. He is playing a comedy role, so people take the comedy out of the singing, he is also know for a popular TV show and we are used to now there being an influx of TV actors who are mediocre at best. Oh, and he's a man, and men sadly get a pass over women more, even in 2019.

I found Jacks dreadful singing added to his performance. His role isn’t to wow the audience with an incredible voice- he’s the comedy character and he is hilarious in the role.

The general public couldn't care less about his singing. I think only MT fans or people who have listened to the OBC recording care about his horrible vocals. I took my friend to see Waitress last week and she loved his performance and thought that "that's how it's supposed to be sung". Even after my 5 minute rant about it she had already made up her mind. |

I had a fabulous seat in H3 Stalls the other week. Absolutely masses of legroom and despite being on the outside aisle didn’t miss a thing. Not the cheapest seats of course (or the most expensive) but excellent for the tallest people.
