I feel that David Hunter is a solid, safe pair of hands type of casting, but for me, he has precious little charisma. He's not the type of performer I would expect to open a new show. Second or third cast perhaps, but I can think of many other English actors of the right age and with the right acting and vocal range who would have been a more exciting prospect.
I booked for this before I knew who was going to play Jenna. I guess I was hoping for Sara Bareilles or Jessie Mueller, but thought that was probably unlikely as neither have a big profile here in the UK. Does KMP have much more of a profile? I wouldn't imagine huge swathes of potential audience would have seen 'Smash'. If they weren't going to star cast, it would have been glorious to see someone like Cassidy Janson or Rebecca Treahearn in the role.
I was disappointed when I saw the casting announcements, but who knows, maybe they'll knock it out of the park? We shall see.

Really I think the question we should all be asking is "why does Broadway get Gavin 'Dreamboat' Creel and London's glitzy West End doesn't? It's a world gone mad. I ❤️ Gavin Creel

I know right? I saw him in Book of Mormon and fell in love instantly.

Not to be dramatic or anything, but if Sara did it I would, as the kids say DIE. (I may have a bit of a crush on her. I may be a bit obsessed with the Waitress recording. I may be obsessed with anything that involves baked goods) Sara is planning on doing it here at some point. Possibly after Katherine leaves.

Am i the only one who's slightly put off by this video? I love this show and i already have tickets to go on my birthday, but the vocals just seem... off? Maybe i've just listened to the OBCR too much and am not used to new voices? But there seems to be *something* missing ooohhhh who thought this was a good idea? No!, just no!!

I’m actually really liking KMP (is this nickname really gonna catch on?) so far. I think her voice has that pure, innocent tone to it which would really add vulnerability to her portrayal of Jenna. And any of my pals from the Wicked thread would know that I’m a sucker for a vulnerable portrayal of a role.

Cassidy Janson has a London show coming up to announce. She can’t tell right now but will be able to soon. There’s nothing coming in that I can think she’d be in - surely that means she’s our Jenna when KMP leaves?

I don't think she has that much of a profile. But what she does have... is a fiancé with loads of clout in the music industry (and twice her years)

It's possible Cassidy is talking about a show still to be announced. MrB has mentioned about a big show going into The Piccadilly we don't know about. Hello Dolly is apparently arriving (is there a role in that for her? Never seen it). There are, i'm sure, many off west end shows yet to be announced for this year too.

I mean, she could be Irene Malloy, but she's not who I'd instantly think of by any stretch. It feels like Waitress, with the timings, is the most likely fit...

Hello all, I have a ticket (just one, ever alone) for Waitress on 19 Feb, free to a good home because I have managed to get a pair for a later date and I cannot remember how terrible the seat I booked was.
PM me if interested x

Just watched a video of rehearsals with 3 songs being sung. Have to say it didn't inspire me to want to go and see it.

So I mean I understand that they don't want to put a bunch of spoilers in the trailer, but.... That rehearsal really does showcase some of the least inspiring music of the show, in my opinion. Basically, the songs I skip on the cast recording 😉😉

Hmmm, interesting!
I'm shocked they've not announced a day seat policy (yet?).

Hmmm, interesting! I'm shocked they've not announced a day seat policy (yet?). It didn’t have a rush/lotto/dayseat policy on Broadway for at least the first year of its run

Hmmm, interesting! I'm shocked they've not announced a day seat policy (yet?). I'd be shocked if it didn't do dayseats because not only is it not selling that great, but also because the theatre itself has done dayseats since at least 2012 when The Bodyguard was there (I hadnt been there before then). I imagine we will eventually find out, they'd be crazy not too.

My thought exactly! ^
I hope so, I was kind of envisioning this being my new go-to pick me up show, plus in a strange way I actually love the dayseating experience 😂.

And also, it reads as the kind of show that will garner a fanbase quite fast, and the best way to get 'em in as much as possible is dayseats and Rush situations.

Could it just be that they’re selling off side seats as dayseats rather than front row? I too would be shocked it they didn’t offer some form of dayseats/rush but then nothing’s a guarantee.
