Will there be pies? 🥧 🥧 🍒 If there are, the smell wafting from the foyer would make that part of the Strand a much more pleasant place - nice change from the petrol smell of all the traffic...

Will there be pies? 🥧 🥧 🍒 (it doesn’t matter if not, I’ve usually got one in my pocket anyway 👍) Probably to replace the ice cream trolley at the interval! (Maybe they can have pie flavoured ice cream... oh my!)

I have apple pie ice cream and lemon meringue pie ice cream - so anything is possible.

I wasn’t that taken by it on Broadway but will certainly give it another watch in London. I do think it will be a harder sell here, but it could do well with the American tourists.

The people of Wigan are rubbing their hands in glee. The mention of pies gets them salivating. This could be big business for them if they play their cards right.

How about a brief synopsis, without spoilers, from those who have seen it for those who haven’t?

Of Come From Away and this, prior to opening I imagine this easily has more chance in the West End. With Come From Away not exactly setting the box office alight as of yet, it is a show that will strongly depend on word of mouth and reviews. Whilst I agree that this isn't sure fire, this is onw of the hyped shows with theatre fans, the fangirls will be out in force regardless who is in the cast. Sarah is fairly well known and She Used to Be Mine is a regular on the concert circuit for caberets and such. So alot of people know the show at least. It'll certianly be interesting to see.

Ticketmaster have just emailed a promo for it, with a video of Katherine McPhee singing one of the songs (doesn’t say she’s in it though).

How about a brief synopsis, without spoilers, from those who have seen it for those who haven’t? Hidden, in case anyone wants to avoid any plot points: Jenna lives unhappily with her husband, dreaming of escape whilst channelling her dreams and hopes into new pie recipes at the diner where she works. Along the way she forms a close bond with her doctor. Subplots surrounding the other two waitresses and their romantic lives also play out with humour.

Katherine McPhee isn't exactly ell known here.
Oddly I could see Sheridan Smith doing this, she would sell tickets. But for me Sarah Baraielles would be my choice.

I saw this on Broadway last year. It’s fine. A silly show about everyone having affairs. The End. Nothing special. Two or three nice songs. It’s not Kinky Boots.

Well I suppose we can't all like the same things, as it happens to be one of my favourites.
If we're talking dream casting I think Rachel John would make a good Jenna, and Cassie Compton (recently Julia in The Wedding Singer) might be a nice Dawn.

How about Emma Williams for Jenna?

It really needs a 'name' to open it and clearly Jane McDonald is the obvious choice (Ooooh it's a long way from Wakefield 'ere in the American South) but she's probably much too busy cruising so if it's going to be a musical theatre name then this is obviously the leading role for Debbie Kurup or Siobhun Harrison.

I loved this on broadway and loved Jessie as the lead. It’s not deep but it has a real old musical feel to it, ie a likeable simple story, some nice songs and one killer song. Some nice moments and very sweet - pun very much intended.
Casting could make or break this but I’m very happy to be able to see this again and thankfully a LOT cheaper than it was on broadway.
And just a no to either Sheridan smith or Alexandra Burke or any other “celeb” stunt casting. Would be lovely to see an actual cast of performers who are skilled at making it come to life, not an X factor contestant.

What if this is the announcement Rachel Tucker was talking about... *intense fangirling* 99% sure it's not

Just watched one of those ten minute ‘who sang it best’ videos on the youtube, and the answer was Jessie Mueller (who also acted it best rather than ” actoring” it best) , closely followed by who I presume was her alternate whose name I don’t remember. I suspect that you’d be waiting for ‘that’ song the whole way through and be a bit bored otherwise, unless the performance was top notch. Sheridan Smith would be alright but her accent isn’t all that.

How about a brief synopsis, without spoilers, from those who have seen it for those who haven’t? I’ve seen it. It’s basically show about 4 different couples having affairs based around a cake/pie shop. The end! Really it’s that simple...
