Packed theatre tonight!! My friend and I tried then failed for rush today so had to settle with Upper Circle F6 & F5 (I have been in stalls on my other 4 ‘Waitress’ visits but for £34 this was decent & no complaints!) So yes the upper circle was full but this gave a great buzz & atmosphere the whole night! It was magical to see Sara as ‘Jenna’, (her SUTBM was sublime)loved her portrayal! Gavin is good but for me not a patch on David Hunter in the role! I just love this show, I will be back again to see Lucie & David again - I really am going to miss this one when we have to say goodbye this July!! So I’ve seen Kathrine twice, Lucie twice & now Sara (maybe I should see her again!!). I like how all have different takes to the role! Oh and today was the first time I noticed two of the ensemble males kiss in the ‘Bad Idea’ reprise end...so lovely & a sweet touch! ‘A Soft Place to Land’ & ‘You Matter to Me’ really stirred the emotions tonight too! Sugar, butter, flour 🥧 I was also at the diner last night too in my usual H4 upper circle bargain seat and agree with a lot of what you said. It was my first time seeing Sara having seen Katherine, Lucie and Desi and it solidified for me that the voice is not everything in musical theatre. Obviously Sara's voice is like no other. Imo it far surpasses any of the other Jennas, so much so that there's not really a comparison to be made. But her acting, whilst completely respectable (and more) for someone with no acting background (I don't really know anything about her so I'm just assuming there's no background), was not at the same level as others. Overall Desi has been my favourite all round portrayal by quite a long way.
I really liked Evelyn Hoskins as Dawn and I think she has the potential to be up there with Laura. They have changed the Ogie scene a little bit when he does the magic trick, he no longer says 'it's the knife' and there was something else that I can't remember but I'm sure will come to me.
Now, Gavin. I'm sorry but I thought he was meh. In general and absolutely in comparison to David Hunter. He was just nothing special and I'm not sure why he was brought over except that it must have been at Sara's behest.
The audience were on fine form and loving it, but there were a LOT of eaters and chatters in the upper circle which drove me to distraction but I was very pleased to see an almost full house on a Tuesday night.

Thank you! The only thing I don't like about TimeOut deals is that you don't know where you're sitting, even on which level, you just get Band B, Band C etc. I might not like where they put me!

I just assumed they’d let you know the seats when booking! 😬There were still like 400 tickets still available a few hours ago but now only seem to be less than half that which seems pretty sus to me, so not sure if they’re holding tickets back on purpose or giving tickets to papering sites?! Or maybe everyone just loves a timeout bargain! 😜

Maybe people are snapping them up now. I'm trying to book through LondonTheatreBookings as they have £25 seats and you can choose your own, but it keeps saying my selection is invalid even though they appear available again right after! It also won't let me select a single seat which is my biggest irritation about booking websites!! I'll keep trying. If I was normal height I'd risk the TimeOut mystery seating, but I'm 6'6" so I need to know the legroom is going to be ok!

From the Leeds Grand website: You could still see it in Hull, though, irisjeregenboog!

From the Leeds Grand website: You could still see it in Hull, though, irisjeregenboog ! Oh that's a shame! Especially since they announced it and everything. Why would it fall through at the last minute? Anyway, a good excuse to travel a bit further out!

I will probably give this a miss unless the casting impresses me.

Went on Wednesday to see Sara Bareilles y Gavin Creel again. Can’t get enough of them, they have such wonderful chemistry. Great seat also in Stalls row G for £30 thanks to the Get Into London offer.
I’ve only seen Katherine McPhee and David Hunter before and for me they were just ok. I find Hunter to be just a one trick pony, he plays every part as goofy lovable guy whether you see him in Once, Kinky Boots or this.
Bareilles and Creel really lift the show. Her voice is to die for and his comic timing is spot on. It’s a pity he doesn’t sing much in this show.
I’ve just booked to see them again on their final week.

Sara lives and breathes Waitress and has done for the past 7 years or so - from whenever she first started writing for it - and I’m sure that comes through in her performance. I’m just excited that when I see her here, hopefully her voice will still be in fine fettle, because she was having major vocal issues the night I saw her on Broadway unfortunately, as she was clearly sick. Quoting myself 😬 but I finally saw Sara and Gavin, and wow! Sara’s unsick voice is UNREAL! Great show and great energy from the audience. Theatre seemed pretty packed which was great to see. I will say that I think Sara is better in her scenes with Gavin (who’s she obviously very close to and comfortable with) than with Marisha and Evelyn, and at times I didn’t think the 3 gelled together so well, but it’s always the case it takes a while to bed in and I think she’s still getting comfortable with the cast. I still don’t OMG LOVE Sara’s acting style but she really brought it home in Act 2, and to hear the composer of such a beautiful score belting out she used to be mine was pretty special and emotional. First time seeing Evelyn and I absolutely loved her Dawn! On a par even with Laura I think, even though I still miss Laura so much! 😭 Marisha is still bringing it as Becky, she’s such a sassy powerhouse I love her. I’m so used to David’s Dr P it took a while getting used to Gavin’s, but he is adorable and his talent really shines through!

Gavins Dr P is very toned down compared to Davids but he did have quirky moments but much more of a 'cool' Dr P lol

I’ve been wondering how well Sara and David would pair together (something we’ll sadly never see 😩 ) but I’m not sure it’d be as successful as Sara and Gavin because I think her Jenna works better with a more toned down Dr P. Basically the opposite to Kat, who’s Jenna played off the more quirky and goofy Dr Ps like Drew and David so so well!

Sara & Gavin now extended to 21 March.
It certainly has been really busy with this casting so a smart move although of course feel for Lucie & David as it means they are out of the show that bit longer!
Cast karaoke is going to be insane on Monday!!

This extension is the best news of the theatre year so far -- the two separately and together are sublime and Sara is SO much better than either Jessie or the utterly blank, expressionless Kat as to lift the show into an entirely new dimension. Do Not Miss It.

Do Not Miss It. Do you think you could maybe compliment one woman without bringing another down, especially as this show is all about female empowerment and sisterhood? Just a thought.

Cast karaoke is going to be insane on Monday!! It won’t affect Lucie massively as she was only going to be back for 1 performance before going on holiday for 2 weeks with the original date. Given that Sara and Gavin have extended and that I’ve heard Evie is only contracted until March 28th, I’m wondering why they didn’t extend until then.

Do Not Miss It. Do you think you could maybe compliment one woman without bringing another down, especially as this show is all about female empowerment and sisterhood? Just a thought. Yup! Seems people aren’t allowed their own opinion or even enjoy a Jenna without it offending someone else to the point that they have to try and invalidate it. I’ve seen it with the twitter fandom too recently - people complaining how they’ve felt pushed out and unwelcome by some Lucie stans because they act like Lucie is the best and how dare you enjoy anyone else. It’s juvenile af but seems to be the way some fandoms are going, and it just spoils things for everyone. Why does everyone have to turn it into some sort of competition? Why not just say “I think Sara’s great run to see her before it’s too late” without dragging down another actress while you’re at it. 🙄 I’ve gotten to see Katharine, Lucie, Desi and Sara over here and they’ve all been really good in their own way. There’s no doubt all the leading lady Jennas are majorly talented and I think we’ve been bl00dy lucky (to steal your British sayings!) to have all of them over here. Also sorry to this person @ionlad but I absolutely loved Katharine as Jenna .... Sorry this rant completely distracted me from what I actually came here to say which is that I saw Sara last night and she was fabulous but I’m too drained right now to say anything more 😜 I also have a major crush on Gavin too now, what a dreamboat!

Wait why was Lucie gonna bother to come back for just 1 performance if she was then gonna be on vacation for 2 weeks, seems weird?! Also a shame for Sarah and Olivia then I guess as I assume they were lined up to cover Jenna before Sara extended

Anyone interested in a Row O circle ticket for £15? Thursday 5th of March. I bought it on todaytix so I can just change the pickup name. Now that Sara and Gavin have extended I’m gonna try to go sometime in the following two weeks.
