People buy tickets to events all the time when they don't know the outcome. Perhaps sports? You know exactly what you are getting when you pay to see sport - that is, a football match for example and a game in which either side could win. You don't buy a ticket for sport and not know what sport it is. It might be tennis? Then again it might be baseball? Who's playing? No idea! Where am I sat? No idea! Am I standing? No idea! Is there a burger van? No idea! Beer? No idea! Why would you buy a ticket to a fan convention if you have no idea what a fan convention is? |

Of course, that may be the problem - that most theatregoers don't know what to expect from a fan convention, and thus, didn't buy a ticket! If ticket sales were very low the producers may well have struggled to book higher-profile guests, and without more exciting guests, you can't sell more tickets....

I bought a day ticket for the paralympics with no idea which events I’d be able to go and see, who would be competing or if I’d get a seat or have to stand. People pay for secret hotels on lastminute.com and Priceline etc. Some people take risks, some don’t. |

I suppose that cruise thingy to Amsterdam in a few weeks would qualify as a Con. They don’t seem to have had any problems selling that and the prices were eye watering. However there’s an undeniable glamour associated with a cruise (misplaced or not) and the idea of having Michael Ball in a “captive” situation on a boat would no doubt have some people whipping out the credit card. Shuffling around Shoreditch Town Hall with an autograph book and a packed lunch doesn’t have the same allure.
Yeah, but it's aimed at middle aged gays with money to burn, not students who live their lives on twatter!

This was supposedly postponed to 2019.. they’re rapidly running out of time to make that happen.
I wonder if everyone who accepted tickets for the new event instead of their refund eventually got a refund?

Stagecon hasn't tweeted anything since the announcement of the postponement, neither has United Theatrical who took over management of it, and stagecon.co.uk redirects to a whatsonstage page which announced the postponement. Don't believe this will ever happen. |

Hopefully people who paid more than £100 total for tickets can claim back from their credit card under section 75. If it was under £100 then it’s tricky because the only facility to try and get “small value” money back from card providers has a time limit.
What a sh*tty thing to do to people buying tickets in good faith.
