Stage Con

Comparing this to recent UK events like the London Comic Con where people were paying around £100 per autograph in some cases, £85 per day is not too bad. And it's a similar price to (for instance) the Twin Peaks UK Festival which looks a similar scale and is also £85 per day.

Just hope the organisers know what they're doing as I've heard so many horror stories of badly organised conventions for various fandoms.

What would be an acceptable price then? Because i have a feeling that anything above about £30 would still have had some people up in arms claiming it's elitist and so on. But the reality of the situation that an event like this was never going to be as cheap as that and if it was then a) it wouldn't have gone ahead in the end b) it would be completely crap if it did or c)it would make the organisers bankrupt and there would never be another one.

It's a hard one tbh. The reason I used to go to fan conventions was because it was the only practical way to get a bunch of fans with a major shared interest together under one roof, and I've never felt that difficulty with fellow theatre fans, so I'm already significantly less interested. You want to indulge your passion for theatre in a special building full of theatre fans? Boy, does London have some GREAT venues for you!

Also, it's hard to overlook that £160 would get you between one ticket to Hamilton and 32 tickets to the Globe. And has this only just been announced? What kind of keen-bean theatre fan doesn't already have something booked for Saturday 3rd November?

I love Shoreditch Town Hall and think it sounds like a great venue, but it's not *super* big so I wonder if it's conversely costing more than it would've cost to go the more traditional route of hiring out some hotel conference rooms or part of a university campus.

I don't know. Just rambling really. I would have loved this back when I was a student and didn't mind carving chunks out of my student loan for extravagant weekends of nerdery. Mind you, I am a little sad that this would be a respectable venue to cosplay as a theatre character - and probably be recognised! - and I'm going to be missing out on that...

It is too expensive to book without knowing whats really happening or if someone price-worthy is
joining the date
for the first con they should make it cheaper, so that more people can come and if it is a success
they can invite more famous people next year and raise the price

the european (more like german) con was not taking place because no one wanted to buy expensive
tickets without knowing whats going to happen

Why not have a theatre board presence? A meet and greet along with a nice signed photo with your favourite board members?

Michael Xavier was always very friendly and chatty when he came to the Palladium and I loved his Joe Gillis in New York. Apart from him this lineup doesn't get me excited.

Not for me (although I highly doubt I'm the target audience). Too expensive, too vague a schedule so far, and too musicals-oriented for me. And I have very very little interest in 'meeting' stars and getting autographs or photos.

Is there a website advertising this event. I'd have thought that they would try to get someone like Elaine Paige to appear. She is a big West End name and lots of fans would like to meet her.

If they were ambitious maybe reach out to Michael Crawford - his fee may be high but he raises a lot of money for his charities so for a photo and a signature he could raise a lot if they were priced right.
