So if you are married in play/musical you should wear a wedding ring, so does a producer/creative have the right to ask you to take your own rings off if married and replace it or your wedding ring in real life double it up for the new charachter. In any case a wedding case is a very personal statement and people tend to get sentimental about it?
Fake cigarettes does a producer/creative expect you to smoke these even against your will? If I was an actor I would not want to inhale anything!

Unless there's a good reason, an actor's real wedding ring would usually double as their character's wedding ring. Peter Capaldi famously refuses to remove his wedding ring even when playing non-married characters but I suppose he's famous enough to get away with it. That's probably why you're not an actor.  An all seriousness, many acting jobs involve things some people might find uncomfortable. If that's your line in the sand you just wouldn't go up for that role. |

I do Tudor historical re-enactment and we try and be as accurate as possible - hand sewn, hand spun clothes, hair cuts, undies etc. But most of us draw a line at wedding rings. Mind you we also get a few teenagers with braces as well!!

The amateur actors that I know do. |

If you're working with electrical equipment you remove all rings because a ring accidentally shorted across a battery or other high current source can result in serious burns and could even melt, and ring-removal never seems to be a problem there. It's a performance. You're not actually becoming single.

I ask all actors to remove personal jewellery personally. Never had anyone say no so far. It’s just best practice.
Edit... I don’t do a full body inspection!

Depends how sentimental the actor is and what they’re comfortable with, a good example is given here, that Peter Capaldi won’t remove his ring. Not sure if a director could insist an actor removes their ring. Also in the electrical industry there is no mandate for people to remove rings, when carrying out installations, corrective or preventative maintenance. |

What about passive smoking - a performer could be in a role opposite someone smoking and be taking in passive smoking for several hours a week.
As regards smoking parts - I'd figure it would be like nudity - some do it and some don't.
