I've been waiting with baited breath to find out whether I'll be able to make it to London for this - I've not seen Khadime perform before but the other three ladies are wonderful actresses with top-notch voices so I really hope I can make it!

It’s probably just me but.... They're remade that series into a new film starring everyone's favourite Twitter poster, Cynthia Erivo.

Well. It was more like 'There Is Nothing Like Acrylic' featuring some of the most dreadful frocks I've seen in a long time. Although it was worth it to see Rachel Tucker dressed up like a Quality Street in the second half.
I preferred the first half song selection although Louise Dearman (who was clearly the star of the show) was criminally underused for it. She had more to do in the second half and still managed to blow the rest away (although I thought she struggled with some of the more modern song choices). She'd make a fabulous Nellie in 'South Pacific' or Reno Sweeney in 'Anything Goes' though.
The second half song choices were more dull and predictable but the crowd seemed to love that half more, getting on their feet at the end of each song. Possibly because Ria Jones' vibrato rumbled through the hall so violently that people possibly thought there was a bit of an earthquake going on and they might have needed to make a swift exit.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard so much reverb on vocals. The four ladies were fantastic, although the band weren’t very polished and perhaps everyone would have benefitted from a little more rehearsal time. Still, there were some good song choices (I agree the first half was more interesting with some of the older MT numbers, the second was just crowd pleaser after crowd pleaser). Tucker’s voice was on perfect form and she was clearly enjoying herself a lot. Jones’ With One Look and Rose’s Turn were spectacular. Dearman’s I Dreamed A Dream was as close to perfect as I’ve ever heard. Khadime I hadn’t ever seen perform before and she really impressed, her highlight being the number from The Wiz.
I could’ve done without the cheesy presenter making us applaud everyone 5 times, but they gave the gals and gays a musical theatre cheese fest and that’s what we all want really isn’t it.
