The King and I has just announced it has broken the record at the Palladium - £1,058,317.50! Assuming all seats sold (I believe most forum members who have been commented how full it was) that's an average of about £57 a ticket.
Very impressive for London! However compare this to New York, the average ticket for Margaritaville works out higher than this! Show just how much cheaper the majority of tickets are in London.

But that’s the record for that particular week at the Palladium they are spinning. It’s impressive but doesn’t take into account the dynamic and premium pricing which drive the ticket average upward which then hides the many (many) tickets sold at heavily discounted prices or comps. It’s a marketing trick.

I thought some site used to publish a guess at attendance using a survey of some sort. It was not scientific but interesting.

£1m is good but quite a few shows have done that, Wicked was one of them IIRC
