After reading the article, words really do fail me in cases like this. You really do wonder about the mentality of people who not only spout this garbage but also the press for printing it. I hope people ignore this and treat it for what it is, utter ****!

I’m not surprised. If we’re not careful this will happen in the UK. See the recent articles about heterosexual people putting animal rights before LGBT+++ ones. (If you ask me, there shouldn’t be a hierarchy of living beings’ rights but that’s me.)
Brexit has lit the fuse, and we must do everything we can to put it out.
I could go much further but I know the rules on this board. There is only one problem in this world.
‘First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.’

If we’re not careful this will happen in the UK. When La Cage Aux Folles was at the Palladium in the mid 1990s one newspaper — I think it might have been The Sun — ran a series of scare stories claiming that it was responsible for promoting homosexuality and spreading AIDS. I saw it several times and never once found myself wanting to shag a man on the way home so I imagine they might have been making it up. I do struggle to understand the thinking of someone who believes that watching a single piece of entertainment can turn someone gay but watching hundreds with heterosexual relationships can't turn someone straight. I guess they think that being gay is just so awesome nobody can resist it.

The UK is a liberal democracy and, unless, the population turns, as in Hungary or some other places, then we are able to reinforce that and punish any overt prejudice. The nightmare scenario is that a majority is formed for intolerance; in most cases this comes via opportunist politicians, manipulative media messaging, a politicised judiciary and a defined people to scapegoat. So keeping extremist parties down and promoting a diverse media and an independent judiciary helps keep that ‘defined people’ safe but it needs constant vigilance, especially now. Look at Putin’s media control, Poland’s seizing control of the judiciary, the populism of the Italian coalition, Trump’s demonisation, these are dangerous times. Orban in Hungary is textbook, he should be shunned internationally.

As noted in previous threads, Hungary is now an overtly fascist country and only quasi-democratic. I'd like to see it seriouly be moved towards expulsion from the EU myself, but I understand why the EU might not feel in a position to do that with everything else that's going on.

I guess they think that being gay is just so awesome nobody can resist it. I think it also had to close early due to the scare stories. In those days people believed that you could catch Aids from using the same toilet and probably even from sitting in the same seat as someone gay. It was a wonderful show as well, mind you I dont remember anyone wanting to shag me after.... mores the pity!

Unbilevable! what a pity...
The trailer looks really good, lots of elements from the original but not a carbon copy, very interesting.

I've just read with amusement then horror, this article about Billy Elliot being staged (or not) in Hungary. Despite it running for 3 seasons and being seen by about 100,000 people in that regressive country, suddenly it's "gay propaganda" www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-44602026I suppose "Priscilla, Queen of the desert" is not on the agenda any time soon!!!!

I think you are absolutely right, Abby and I’m ashamed that a nation in Europe and a member of the EU is allowed to continue in this way. Makes you think what else is going on. As for the show, what a terrible shame. Sad.

I've liked this post because the link was to Joemygod.com and I've been reading his site for years. And he's a super nice guy too!

Better close Wicked. It could cause kids to want to fly around on broomsticks and melt witches!
Absolutely disgusting, homophobic reviews.
