I wonder if Rachel was always planned short term as a tenth anniversary thing and if there was something agreed with Willemijn that if she became fit and wanted to return the door would be open I do think come next September we will get a new Elphaba though. When they announced Rachel would return, they immediately said she'd only be staying until January

Well that will be me staying away from Wicked again ... And I'll finally be rushing back to Wicked. Rachel returning leaves me cold, but I'm more than excited to see Willemijn again.

Well that will be me staying away from Wicked again ... and you'd only just come back.... This is what I love about Wicked though; we all have our own views on what makes a perfect Elphaba.

I saw Rachel last week and she was incredible. Not only her singing, but her acting was perfect too I think I've said it already, but FWIW: Rachel was my first Elphie back in 2010 and I have fond memories of seeing her on the AV stage, especially her (then) last-ever show - what an amazing atmosphere it was. So naturally, I was very happy when they announced that she was taking over as Elphaba on Broadway. However, when I saw her this March (twice in two different weeks to minimise the risks of missing her because of vacations), her performance left me really underwhelmed and I was quite disappointed. Currently, I'm not planning to see Wicked in London again until February - unless they announce an Alice date that I can make.

It really is like watching a completely new performer! Last week was my first time seeing her. But I'd had read some reviews about her first run in London of people saying she wasn't really a good actress. When I saw her last week, I couldn't believe those people had been talking about the same person. Her acting was the best I've ever seen in a musical.

I meant more that it was as a specific bring a bog Wicked name back for the 10th thing. I apologise that saying that in my post wasnt sufficient or clear enough

I apologise that saying that in my post wasnt sufficient or clear enough Yeah, I think they might have wanted a big name for the 10th. And of course Rachel's doing the show on Broadway meant she was almost definitely coming back to do it in London

Interrupting several pages of exclusively Elphaba-related discussion, I'm pleased to see that Sarah McNicholas will be playing Nessa. I thought she was good as the Mistress in the tour of Evita a couple of years ago.

I have to say that photo of Willemijn Defying Gravity in the press release is stunning. Booked my ticket for her first show back (didn't go top price, just £29.75 for the not so restricted F38 in the stalls), so making a longer weekend out of Rachels last and Willemijns first.
My work is going to love me, "yeah remember when I said I would be back on the Monday, well now it's the Wednesday"
Really looking forward to Sarah McNicholas as Nessarose, loved her in Evita.
And Sue Kelvin is by far my favourite Madame Morrible.

That's exactly what happened - everyone agreed that the way she left the show was not fitting of the way her career as Elphaba had ensued. Hoping for someone awesome and brand new to the show. No ex-standby, no ex-cover... Someone fresh and exciting a la when Alexia joined.

Speaking of Alexia, what is she up to now? Hope she gets another WE role? Maybe a replacement Lorell for dreamgirls after cast change?
