I've actually met her at the stage door a couple of times and she is a lovely person.
It's not like I am the only person who has said she is too old for the role, or at least looks old compared to Emma. On the old forum, it was a constant discussion whenever there was a cast change and she stayed on.

Katie is approaching 40 and has been playing the role of Nessa on and off for around 6 years. She is getting too old and will have to do something else sooner or later.

I think it is safe to say she will leave, as announced, on January 28, 2017, along with Anita Dobson and Rachel Tucker... though Rachel, if you fancy sticking around for a while longer, feel free.

Putain de merde. I'm in London next week Thursday to Sunday to see Natalie A three last times (flight and hotel booked months ago), and now this. Now I need to quickly organise alternatives for Thursday Evening and both Saturday shows. I am by no means seeing Natalie M again as I disliked her Elphaba even more than Emma's. Edit: Alternatives sorted: Thursday: Jersey Boys (Dayseat). Saturday: Funny Girl (Dayseat) and The Go-Between (TKTS). Still hugely disappointed that I won't get to see Ms A go green ever again. Glad you got alternatives sorted and sorry to have been the messenger of doom! Like someone else said I'm guessing that Natalie A must be ill, although seems strange that they know for definite she won't be available all of next week! I'm not on Twitter, so thanks for posting. I'd have been much more disappointed if I had dayseated on Thursday and then found out that Natalie A is off. I know that I'm pretty much the only one on here having this opinion, but Natalie A is the only one this cast is worth seeing for. I absolutely love her portrayal. Really hope she's well; if I remember correctly, she struggled during most of her announced shows, which is kind of surprising, 'cause back at Rock of Ages, she was a trouper and (almost?) never off sick. Is Elphaba such a more demanding role? But she's "only" the standby. Hope she can get her act together for whatever show she's heading to next. That said, I changed my plans once more. Thank God flexibility is one of my many middle names As I'm on an early morning flight on Thursday, I'll be dayseating for Funny Girl then (looking forward to seeing Natasha), and on Saturday, I'll be off to see Titanic and one more trip to Aladdin (still found a reasonably priced seat in the Grand Circle).

Yes Natalie hasn't actually had the best of runs as Standby, it always seems when Emma is off for a number of runs Natalie is out of the show - that said its a great run for the understudies, I don't ever remember a time when they got this many rides of the broom!

I am yet to see Laura or Natalie A green but as I am not planning to be in London before cast change it is not going to happen.

Re the Nessa debate.
I think people are letting personal opinions get in the way.
Yes Katie has probably been there too long. Yes most of us on this thread have watched her a million times and would like to see someone new.
But....
Have most people in the theatre audience seen her before? Probably not. Do most of the audience care how old she looks? Probably not. Do most of the audience just think of her as Elphaba's sister and probably don't even remember the line that she is her younger sister? More than likely! !

Not sure if it makes a difference or not but Lauren James Ray is on all week as Nessa too according to a post on Innuendo/Outuendo! Lauren & Daniel Hope are possibly my favourite Nessa/Boq combo I loved them when I saw them!

Not sure if it makes a difference or not but Lauren James Ray is on all week as Nessa too according to a post on Innuendo/Outuendo! It doesn't. I'm not the biggest fan of Savannah's depressive Glinda (she was fab opposite Willemijn, but she's with the show way too long - phoned in comes to my mind, especially since she returned from recovering her injury), and I've already seen Natalie M three times (when I originally wanted to see Natalie A who was supposed to be on) and really don't like her take on the role. If it were either Natalie A or Laura E and Savannah, I'd go. But either Emma H or Natalie M opposite any Glinda (not even Carina G) - no. I think I'll go once when Rachel's back and then focus on Alice Fearn's standby dates. Hopefully, they'll either bump her up when Rachel leaves or get someone completely new. I'm so sick of their constant and lazy recycling of former cast members. Christ, there's so much talent out there.

I get the feeling if Disney schedules Star Wars IX on that date then Universal will no doubt move it. It's actually made more profit for Universal than any of their franchises like Jurassic Park, Fast and Furious and Despicable Me/Minions.

Star Wars 9 will most probably be pushed back to Summer 2020 - we're not getting episode 8 until Christmas 2017. Very exciting news though. Casting: Elphaba - Lea Michelle Glinda - Anne Hathaway/Megan Hilty Morrible - Imedla Staunton Fiyero - Jake Gyllenhaal Wizard - Hugh Jackman Depends how young they want to cast the 2 leads I suppose. Personally I think teenagers in Oz look 30 something. Look at Sandy in Grease. Given Disney are committed to a Star Wars film every year with the trilogy every other year. I think December 2019 for Star Wars IX is very likely. Wicked could co-exist and still make boatloads of money.

Id say that whoever ends up being cast is probably not on anyones radar yet.

I'd like to see Meryl Street as Morrible, she'd be good. So would Imelda Staunton though

I can see Meryl as the obvious casting, and the best! What I want to know is if there will be any new songs... possibly one to transition from Defying Gravity to Thank Goodness? I'd like to see Boq or Nessarose get a solo or duet somewhere, maybe to expand their relationship? Like, a song before The Wicked Witch of the East about how Boq is trapped but Nessarose thinks she is doing the best thing? Something like that, off the top of my head!

... get Meryl in for the role, she is incredible in everything and gets nominated at least once every two/three years!

I'd love to see them re-work Wicked witch of the East into a full song. Done right, that's one of my favourite moments in the show. And not to go back to the debate earlier, but it's a moment that I think a certain Nessa has really failed to being to life. It's her one real chance to milk it. I still wish that was on the cast recording.

I wouldnt say any of the roles are obvious oscar contenders. Its quite a light musical and moving it to screen will emphasise that unless they strengthen the story. Its basically a chick flick with songs. Compare wicked to most oscar nominated roles and there isnt much comparison
Glenn close, kate winslett, michelle pfieffer all would.make great morribles. Please someone other than meryl streep again.
