I think when people post their negativity it's more productive to block them, report, delete their comments (if you can) and just ignore.
Everyone talking about it just gives them the attention they crave. Whether this attention is good or bad they do not care, they are being noticed and getting attention so in their mind they are succeeding.
Engaging with them will not work. They won't listen to reason or change. In their mind they are some kind of noble knight defending their favourites honour.

That said, it's nice to have a good rant sometimes isn't it 😂

Maria Coyne has tweeted a big rant about Sarah Louise and what she’s done to Laura. For what it's worth Maria's comments were probably about the reactions on Youtube to the Heathers performance, not SL

Maria’s comments could just as easily be about anything, including this board.

Maria’s comments could just as easily be about anything, including this board. Sorry, that sounded less twattish in my head. I meant to say that her post was quite vague and that it’s a bit of an extrapolation to assume she was talking about Sarah Louise as it wasn’t very clear what she meant. Jessica Vosk is the new Elphaba on Broadway, taking over from Jackie Burns.

That's the joy of indirect tweets... nobody knows who they are directed at!

I'm happy for JV getting the 15th anniversary run on B'way. I wonder who we'll get in the 15th anniversary London run?

I’m in NYC July 4-9. Said to myself “if JV takes over I will go to see Wicked but only if it’s with JV”. Gutted that I’m missing her by 1 week - the same thing happened when I went to NYC a week after SJB’s final Elphaba show 😢 thrilled she’s taking over though, from what I have heard online she is phenomenal - I love what I’ve heard, she sounds like my kinda Elphaba!

See I’m going to respectfully disagree and say that I find her to be a poor Elphaba from what I’ve heard. I’m really surprised to see the acclaim she has received, much of which seems to be due to her social media presence rather than her performance. Her belt isn’t particularly powerful, she often doesn’t sustain notes for their full length and her voice has an incredibly nasal quality to it, to the extent that it feels like the notes are actually coming out of her nose rather than her mouth. Her performance is a bit emperor’s new clothes for me.

Jessica Vosk is taking over as Elphaba on Broadway? Seriously? Seen her on tour in Orlando ~18 months ago and her performance left me unimpressed. Too bad that I already booked a ticket for early September. Maybe I’m lucky and her standby is on...

Lauren James Ray has come back to play Nessa today! Considering the fact that she left the show in September 2015, it's astonishing how frequently she's been back since. She stands by a lot too when either Rosa or Aimee are out. Can't think of many people who are still on the payroll at their job three years after their contract "officially" ended

I just wanted to pop into this thread to say that I saw the show on Wednesday evening and had three main observations:
1. The sound was TERRIBLE at the start of the show. It was all sorted out by the time we reached The Wizard and I, but both the volume and the balance of the orchestra were awful during the overture, and the ensemble mixing was a bit rough in No-one Mourns The Wicked too.
2. Maria Coyne has a gorgeous soprano, and the best diction of any Glinda I’ve seen. This was the first time I’ve actually clearly heard the lyrics ‘the truth we all believe’ll by and by outlive a lie for you and...’ in No-one Mourns The Wicked.
3. Beneath all the riffing, Alice Fearn has one of the most powerful voices in the West End. I don’t want to spark this debate once again, but at this show she barely riffed at all, just added a few embellishments here and there, and it sounded sublime. Her voice was pure and strong, and I enjoyed it so much more than the last time I saw her, back in september, where she did more riffing but clearly sacrificed the control that she demonstrated on Wednesday night.

In just under 3 weeks, the Broadway production of Wicked will become the 6th longest-running in Broadway history, surpassing A Chorus Line. With no signs of closing and both Les Mis and Cats closed, it will likely become the 4th longest-running in the next two/three years. Though this is where it will stall, with Phantom, Chicago and Lion King not closing anytime soon and them consistantly being above Wicked on the list!

When the Broadway production of Cats took the top spot from A Chorus Line there were a number of people who disliked the idea that a "populist" show should knock ACL out of its position as Broadway's longest-running musical and tried to think of reasons why it shouldn't count so they could claim that ACL was still number one. I wonder if they've given up yet.

So over on Broadway Ashley Parker Angel has played his last show as Fiyero and they’ve still not announced his replacement! We’d be going mental and stalking stage door to see who was rehearsing if that was here!

What I find weird about Broadway is that all the cast members seem to leave at different points instead of having one cast change day.

I went a couple of weeks ago but forgot to post about it then. Took my brother and sister-in-law who had never seen it before. Twas my 13th time but my first seeing Alice and Sophie.
Alice really was tremendous and lived up to her reputation. On the Wednesday night we went, there was none of the reported OTT riffing. She reminded me a lot of Kerry Ellis in her performance. Sophie was fine, but may be my least favourite Galinda so far as her comic timing just wasn’t quite there compared to the others I’ve seen.
The atmosphere in the theatre however just wasn’t there. It’s the first time I’ve been where it looked like the Circle was only half sold - yes, Wednesdays in the middle of a heatwave generally aren’t popular at the theatre, it was just the first time I’ve seen it that empty for this show. Nevertheless my brother didn’t notice any of that and they really enjoyed the show, which was the reason I got the tickets in the first place.

What I find weird about Broadway is that all the cast members seem to leave at different points instead of having one cast change day. It's because contracts are 6 months over there and are renewed on an individual basis, and then people extend for a few weeks because of holiday or because the management need to tide over until a replacement is rehearsed and after 15 years of that it all becomes a bit of a mess.

They did co-ordinate it for a while in 2017, I think when Jenny DiNoia left most of the lead cast went with her, but now people are drifting off as and when is convenient again so clearly they decided that it was too much hassle.

They also have people in on short term contracts/covers too, I remember reading something previously about Equiti rules whereby if a performer will be absent for longer than two weeks they bring a formal cover in. So over here we’d have a swing step up to cover if an ensemble member was out for a while, in US they would bring in a temporary performer to cover than ensemble track.

Anyone going to cast change on Saturday? Thread seems a bit quiet about it, but I suppose fewer principal cast members are leaving than usual so that maybe why?

I did want to but I didn’t think it would be worth doing the 4.5 hour train ride down to London just to see Bradley’s last show. I know Dillamond is leaving too but it’s a bit of a nothing role, and I doubt Sarah McNicholas will actually show up for her last Nessa show.

I'm heading to London on Saturday but have yet to decide what two shows I'm seeing, can't say that I feel I need to be at this cast change like I did last year but I may go down for one of the performances. There's only two ensemble members who I'll miss the presence of onstage so it doesn't really feel like much of a cast change, nor does it warrant paying out high ticket prices or sitting in that dayseat queue for hours on end (for me at least)

Joseph Fletcher is going to be a huge miss, it's his 1444th show today.
Yes, he keeps count and I love that he does.
