Thinking of employment law I would assume Carina remains as Standby Glinda, and therefore Maria will stay covering Carina’s leave?! Hmmm don’t know the ins and the outs of equity law but I am self employed so know a fair bit about that and whilst I think they would have had to at least offer her to stay, I can’t imagine there is a law saying they have to keep her. She’s self employed after all. Ah sorry yes, I more meant they can’t replace her if she doesn’t want to go?!

Maria might not want to stay so they would have to get someone else in to replace her. My guessing is that Maria will stay as she will be contracted for a year to cover Carina’s maternity? So her contract will run October-October rather than to cast change? you'd be correct!

Ah, so the Fiyero news came yesterday as Bradley has been announced today taking over as Javert in London!
And I’ll be booking to see that - that voice!

Wow this thread is very dead at the minute. Does anyone else kind of think Wicked is a bit “off-peak” at the minute?

Well, I've almost completely lost interest in Wicked and won't return until after a big cast change. The sad thing is, if it announced its closure, I wouldn't even care - never thought that'd ever happen.

To be honest, I can’t see Les Mis, Phantom, Wicked or Lion King closing for another 5 years at least. They’re the big 4; the ones tourists love. And I can’t really imagine another show at the Apollo Victoria - especially now that it’s been made for Wicked (green seats, pink lighting - Pink goes good with green) Green carpets, green lighting, green drinks, you name it.

Not really, but there's only so many times you can discuss the favourite Elphaba or that Alice did another great riff. When the full new cast is announced I am a sure this thread will burst back to life again!

Well based on what some people have heard, I think we are only getting a new Nessa and a new Goat, and some new ensemble members.

The seating and carpets at the theatre are a nod back to the original decor from when it first opened. The lighting and drinks are things that can be changed for virtually no cost and can be seen at most theatres, regardless of how long the show is forecast to run

I'm wondering if Bradley had been announced due to the fact Les Mis announced there new cast already?

The new Fiyero was leaked by a paper so it was obvious Bradley was going. So no need to hold off an announcement any longer.

I really want there to be a Morrible that does a Scottish accent instead of the usual “posh old lady” voice.

Sophie's staying. I wanted to give her a second chance, so at least I have another year or so rather than just have to rush back for the sake of her.

I’m not clued up with all the different covers so bare with me, Rosa who covers Glinda is Rosa O’Reilly right? So she’s been able to be Nessa lead for basically a whole year (despite not being listed in the programme or even getting a slip) but now after a whole contract of her doing the role they’ve decided they’re going to get a new Nessa in and she has to go back to the ensemble? Seems stupid to me.

I find it consistently interesting Sarah is unable to perform a show in a wheel chair, yet on social media she is out and about all the time. She gets listed as one of the main characters in one of London's biggest shows when she does nothing and Rosa constantly performs the role and never gets her deserved credit, not even a slip in the programme.
I cannot help but give her the side eye, and if she doesn't return, Rosa has been screwed over this whole year. Because also, does Sarah get paid more than someone who is in the Ensemble? Because if so, then Rosa has been screwed over pay wise as well.

I'm sure Rosa has been paid more money for playing the main role than she would receive in the ensemble.

Never claimed to be love. Just an observation, and to be truthful, I don't think I'm the only one who has had this thought, I'm just the one saying it. I hope she has fully recovered and returns to the show so I can see her at least once.

People can walk again fairly quickly after spinal surgery but doing other things isn't possible for a significant length of time.

Well it's an incredibly ignorant viewpoint to take. People can walk again fairly quickly after spinal surgery but doing other things isn't possible for a significant length of time. OK so I admit, it may not be the best viewpoint to take, but let's flip it to another side, just to play devils advocate for a second. Sarah had/has back issues. Fair enough. She has to leave the show "temporarily" and have the understudy go on. Fair enough. She is gone for the show for over a year. A cast change has occured in this time, and she may not make it back until this next cast change where she allegedly plans to leave. In my opinion, the producers honestly should of had Rosa listed as the lead in the programme in that time, especially as they printed new programmes in the time she has been gone. I'm sure, and hope, they have paid Rosa accordingly, but Sarah can't just decide to return to work if she still has issues with her back. Her doctors would of ordered her to be off for a set period of time, and therefore the team at Wicked would know, if she is out of this show for six months, Rosa should get promoted to lead for that set period of time. If anyone I feel sorry for, it's really Rosa. And we can all say "oooh, I'm sure she's fine", but to be a main role in Wicked for over a year and not be credited as such, it's not fair.

I agree with the fact that Rosa should have been billed as a full time lead, however recovery from surgery isn't always as clear cut as say '4 months off work' or whatever, it is based on the progress of the patient and the speed at which they are recovering.

I am aware different medical issues have different recovery times patient to patient, its just consistantly fustrating every time this specific year, that Nessarose is brought up, you can't help but jump to the fact the person credited in the programme actually hasn't played the role now for over a year, and missed out almost an entire contract. Its fustrating to think of the whole situation. And I know that isn't Sarah's fault. It should be handled better by those at Wicked.

She should be listed on the website as playing the role and certainly should have a full page slip in the programme. I suspect she hasn't though.
It is unfair as anyone reading the programme or going on the website will think they have seen someone else.
I am sure there is some union or contractual reason for it. I don't begin to understand all the ins and outs of star billing but I suspect this is so.

With Sarah being out on a known absence I don’t see how it’s different knowing Carina is off on mat leave and Maria getting credit as the Standby and noted on the website that it’s maternity cover.
Lauren Brookes was brought back into the ensemble when Rosa got bumped up permanently so they added her online to get the credit, just seems unfair for Rosa. Especially now if she was good enough to cover it for a year and now not good enough for it permanently from this new cast change!
