'The Band's Visit' and 'Dear Evan Hansen' are bound to make their way here in full size productions, I think 'Gentleman's Guide' is less likely to do that now, though, and may need to go the off West End route, I'm surprised that Big River hasn't done the same already as it'd fit a smaller stage just fine.

Of the earlier ones I think 'Raisin' is the strongest show overall but it has a play version that is done frequently and the songs don't add that much. 'Hallelujah Baby' is confusing at best, given its structure, and ran barely nine months fifty years ago, 'Redhead' managed to squeeze out a year's run sixty years ago but that was on the back of Gwen Verdon's performance, that leaves 'Will Rogers' Follies', a big spectacle about someone we've never heard of anymore. 'Jerome Robbins' Broadway' may be sellable but it needs a large cast and revues tend not to be as revivable.

n.b. the earliest three shows I know from the scripts, recordings and scores, the others from various filmings. The only 'official' filming of those is 'Will Rogers' Follies' done for Japanese television, which preserved Tommy Tune's outstanding staging.

Yes, I can confirm that I saw Fiorello! at the Piccadilly Theatre in 1962.  I had the original Broadway cast album (on Capitol) and liked very much the Bock/Harnick score.  I remember it was well performed but I guess the subject matter was of little interest to London audiences. 'Little Tin Box' was of course the musical highlight of the evening, deservedly so!  Although Wiki denies the show was ever mounted in London, it starred Derek Smith, Marion Grimaldi, Nicolette Roeg, Patricia Michael and Peter Reeves according to Kurt Gänzl (Encyclopedia of the Musical Theatre).

I regret I did not see 1776 in 1970 because by that time I was busy becoming London's leading variety and music hall pianist as well as keeping EMI Classics running so I rarely had any time for going to the theatre apart from to shows that I was playing for!

While it didn't win Best musical, Next to Normal seems to be the musical that has eluded the UK.

I could see Gentleman's Guide done at the Southwark Playhouse, Other Palace or Menier.

Why is there no West End equivalent to IBDB? It would make threads like this so much easier!

I think Muriel’s Wedding would be a great hit here. Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later. You can never have too much ABBA.

Interesting that half of those are Disney. They do have a bit of a stigma about them amongst the more seasoned theatre goers, but have produced some very solid shows in their time.

Aida, Hunchback and Newsies I'd love to see this side of the pond.
