I really want to go based on the strength of Emily Tierney, and I'm eager to see Rebecca Mendoza and Rory Phelan, but apart from that, I would probably avoid. It seems like the type of show where the matinees would be filled with drunk dinner ladies and pensioners.

Going to be honest. I had zero interest in this till I saw the casting of Emily Tierney.

Hilarious though that this won’t include the song ‘Club Tropicana’ as they couldn’t get the rights! You would think you’d find that out before writing a show with that as the title.

Yikes, is that right?! So there's no WHAM! at all? Oh dear.
The deliciously tacky website - shades advised before opening - lists a few more songs:
Excuse the capitals - theirs, not mine.
I was really up for this (and will probably still go) but I'm disappointed by some of the song choices so far.
No WHAM! is criminal, and I was hoping for something from the likes of Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Bananarama, Soft Cell etc... I guess rights are preventing them from using their material too.
Using "Surprise, Surprise" and "I could be so good for you" is a bit of a cheat as they're more classic TV themes than "eighties pop anthems".
I'm guessing that'll be the Ryan Paris "Dolce Vita", and not the Sparks track - although much as I adore Sparks, that's probably a good choice.
I wonder if they're having to frantically re-write the book if they were expecting to be able to use certain songs?

This reminds me of the jukebox musical Carnaby Street, where there were characters called Jude and Penny Lane, but alas no rights for either of those songs to be used!

I suspect this will be garbage, but I also suspect I’ll love it. I love some cheap trash from time to time. As long as I’m not paying £75 for it.

l]I wonder if they're having to frantically re-write the book if they were expecting to be able to use certain songs? They’ll have to give the monkeys at typewriters overtime and bonus bananas! And who will pay for THAT?

This reminds me of a show I saw years ago eternal flame ? Sonia Sophie Lawrence ? Bobby Davro ? I think 🤔 anyone else remember it or did I dream it up lol If my memories correct it was a good laugh and deserved a better run Thinking on I’m sure it had a similar plot to hot stuff now that was fun with David dale and later Ceri Dupree

The 80s jukebox was called Eternal Flame with Bobby D and Sonia. I saw it in Manchester when it stopped there. A bit of theatrical fluff and a chance to have a bit of a sing song as well. I think Club Tropicana is going to be in the same vein. This is the kind of show that is going to light up the Bad Behaviour thread like a Christmas tree!

Well I’ve taken a plunge & will be diving in to see on the 1st Saturday matinee in Bromley- I could only bare to part with the cheapest price £19 & I am last row in the stalls which for there is absolutely fine as rake is good!
I felt like I just have to see this, who knows how this one will play out!!?!

I hope the weekly costs for this are quite low, or the producers have deep pockets. It's already discounting on Travelzoo for Bromley, Bradford and York.

So depressing that Neil McDermott and Emily Tierney have gone from Eugenius to this rubbish.
