I’ve played it three times and cannot hear any semblance of Laurel, only Yanny.
Could it also be a male/female thing like the dress?

What devices are people using? With headphones or high quality speakers I can only hear Laurel. With the built-in speakers on various devices I can only hear Yanny.

LBC 7am: Laurel. 7.40am, Yanny. Same radio, same listening position. Yes, some people will be able to switch between the two, it all just depends on your hearing. Generally as you get older you lose certain frequencies of hearing, but obviously everyone's different. Different devices may have an effect, I suppose, as the sound mix may differ between the lower and higher frequencies.

LBC 7am: Laurel. 7.40am, Yanny. Same radio, same listening position. I was listening at the same time and exactly the same happened. What is this witchcraft? We’re all going to DIE.

One Yanny followed by Laurel. Seems I must be well-balanced, able to see both sides of any argument.

Anyone named Laurel (and possibly Yanny) must hate their life so much right now.

Thing is, my old Mum - who hears Yanni - thought I may have ruined the experiment by googling it and seeing the word Laurel in writing before hearing the clip, if it also has to do with suggestion and interpretation.

I can only hear Laurel. I used the pitch-changing tool on the NY Times and had to drag it all the way to the Yanny side before it started to sound like Yanny.

And now this...
Note: try listening first without reading the text beneath it to see what you hear. Then read the text to see what other people hear.
