The fourth, and final  , season of The Bridge starts Friday 11 May at 9pm on BBC2.Although programmes have previously transferred from BBC4 to BBC2, Only Connect for example, this is the first time I can recall a fully subtitled foreign drama receiving it's UK premiere on either BBC1 or 2. (No doubt someone's going to correct me now!) Just shows, I suppose, how accepting we have now become of Saga and her leather slacks! |

On a visit to Malmo we once went to the museum as it had a special exhibition on The Bridge (we had already seen several locations from the show). It was called “A Non-Existent Malmo" as it was pointing out that Malmo is not like The Bridge in real life. The exhibition consisted of Saga's costume and Saga's car. However, the car had been taken away for filming the next series. So we were left with one exhibit. We felt it would have been better titled “A Non-Existent Exhibition"!

I bloody LOVE The Bridge! I like a lot of Scandi crime and Euro drama in general. Engrenages is my absolute favourite but The Bridge is really close. I recently watched series 1 and 2 on iplayer and loved them even more second time round. I had planned to watch series 3 as well before this one started, but I haven't managed it.
I'm a bit miffed about the move to Friday and the move to one episode per week. I'm too tired on Fridays! I like a Saturday night leisurely meal, glass of wine, two episodes of my Scandi drama so that you can really get into it.

I agree, I’m so looking forward to this series, but I’ve got used to binge watching box sets . It’ll take some getting used to , actually waiting a whole week for the next episode . |

Well that would be nice, but I can't fit it in before 9pm! I do remember it roughly, it's far fresher in my mind than the other two series.

OK, so you've all gorn on about it so much that I was galvanised into watching episode 1 from series 1.
I really wasn't expecting something so........well........ grey. Grey scenery. Grey buildings. Grey costumes. Grey facial expressions. Grey acting. An hour of sheer misery. I like a bit of jokey banter in between my murders thank you very much.
I think I need a great big dollop of Ionian Sea and The Durrells to cheer myself up!

Well in that case, shouldn't it be called Scandi Gris? I once tried to watch an episode of Midsomer Murders as someone I knew was in it. I deserve an oscar for my performance extolling their virtues afterwards. Is there anyone in the entire universe who has ever got to the end of an episode not comatose? ETA: No one's actually said whether they enjoyed the start of series 3 last night...? |

I quietly liked it last night. But I think it really suffered from not having two episodes. The double bill gives you a chance to get sucked into the story - the first one always has a lot of scene setting, character introduction and so on, and is a bit slower. And then such a good cliffhanger - it needed another episode straight away.
I felt it lacked some of the Saga humour, and I didn't enjoy seeing Saga so unhappy. Cross Saga is endearing, sad purposeless Saga is heartbreaking. That's another reason we need two episodes.
I'd forgotten about sodding Linn too. She's still a cow I see.
New cop is a nasty sh*t, I hope he gets his comeuppance. He's worse than poor Rasmus.

I'm enjoying it, but I do think it suffers by not being a double bill. Just as you get sucked in, it's over. Two hours is so much better.

Did you watch that Spanish thriller on BBC4? Those episodes really were too long to show consecutively. I still don't know how it all ended, cos by that stage I'd lost the will!!

That recap was my quick-wee top-up-drink catch my breath slot!
Yes, that thing about the amnesia man and the missing niece and the bossy wife? I liked it at the start but I think the plot got ridiculously silly so I gave up when it got to the "end of series" that wasn't an end but just a gap before they showed the rest. I read a synopsis of the rest of the plot and it got so ridiculously stupid that I'm glad I didn't bother.
