Anyone else heard anything recently of this transferring back to the West End temporarily?? I was thinking and if FN were to happen at the Picc (not sure it will) then this could easily be a filler for then? I would LOVE to see the show but as it didn't come anywhere near London on tour, never got to see it. southampton, Birmingham and Leicester are all very easy to access from London. Southampton is only 1hr 20 on the fast triangle and Birmingham and Leicester aren't that much more

Likewise, saw this in December and loved it. I liked it much better than I remembered liking the last time around if that makes sense..

Saw this in Birmingham and Newcastle (having never seen it before) and I have to say it was probably the highest quality production I've ever seen on tour. Would love it to do a short West End return at some point - it was being looked at at one point so hopefully it comes to fruition sooner or later.

Saw this in Cardiff last night. Last saw it when it originally toured and loved it just as much this time! Made me feel like a kid again!

Me too katykate. Took my 13 year old son who absolutely loved it. Kids with the internet know all the surprises, but when she reappeared with the kite he audibly gasped.... and 'Step In Time' around that gigantic pros arch takes some balls! The lighting hid Berts wires for the first 3/4 from where we were sat so the effect was amazing. Like katy I enjoyed it so much more than when it first opened in Bristol ten years ago. Just such a quality production and the set is phenomenal...much better than the clunky house dropping from the rafters every five minutes. I could see it filling Drury Lane so well if it can use the WMC stage like that.

Fabulous news, would be great to see this in a big London theatre! I'd hope for an open-ended run, which I am sure there is an audience for, than a short three month run or something.

Same hope it would be open ended too but I think a limited run would work better for the show. If 42nd Street flops and closes early then I think this will 100% go there over Christmas as a limited run then extend depending on demand. I'm not sure if 42nd Street will last long based on the advance but am willing to be proved wrong. Would Zizi transfer? I don't think the show needs a name at all

I'll be stunned if 42nd Street makes it far past Summer, give Poppins to the Drury Lane.

Let's see how 42nd Street does first! We shouldn't write off a show before it's even opened.

I saw Poppins at the Theatre Royal in Newcastle back in September and the stage looked absolutely tiny, how the hell they fit it in there I have no idea, anyway it got me thinking...
I'd always thought of Poppins as a mega production that needed a mega house, but having seen it play such a small stage it got me wondering what is the smallest theatre it could technically fit into in London? A bit like Mormon, if they can get it into a smaller theatre, supply will be suppressed relative to demand with the (intended) outcome of a longer run and higher prices.
Think of the Mackintosh-owned potentially available venues towards the end of the year...appreciating it may sound a bonkers suggestion but would Poppins physically fit into the Noel Coward/Gielgud/Wyndams?

I suspect capacity wise those three would be out of the question, I think it would need to go into a theatre that is 1200 seats minimum. The Prince of Wales though it has 1160 seats, has a wide stage so it can fit a lot of musicals such as Mormon. I doubt it would fit into those theatre without downsizing to the point where it would no longer be Poppins

Would Zizi transfer? I don't think the show needs a name at all I really hope so. Having seen her put such a distinctive stamp on the part, it wouldn't feel right watching anyone else. A few months in London over the festive season and this would be the hottest ticket in town (well, second to Hamilton anyway).

It would be great for Zizi if this came to London with her still starring. I know she wants to do more comedy work, but even in that sense it would be massive boost to say she has lead a West End cast.

A bit like Mormon, if they can get it into a smaller theatre, supply will be suppressed relative to demand with the (intended) outcome of a longer run and higher prices Interesting thoughts.... I think that you have to bear in mind that running costs don't diminish when you opt for a smaller venue and the bigger your cast and crew then the gap between gross taking and break even becomes small. Poppins would still have a sizeable weekly salary bill so I think they would need a big theatre like Drury Lane. i believe that with Mormon, they hoped it would be a success here but couldn't be 100% sure so opted for a mid-size venue which would guarantee a long run but with less of a financial return than say, the Prince Edward with 500 more seats per show. Personally, I love to see plays and mid-scale musicals in the medium sized West End theatres and that theatregoers get the opportunity to see new work....something which is seldom discussed in this Forum

I think when Cameron said he was "hoping" to bring it back, maybe they've got their eyes on Drury Lane however it all depends on how 42 Street does. If 42nd Street does really well then I doubt Mary Poppins would go there. If 42 street flops then this show could easily come into Drury Lane just using the tour set. I think it'd do a limited season but extend if there's demand. It would do brilliantly over the Xmas.
I can't see it going anywhere else especially now the Palladium has panto confirmed

I see that Zizi is taking a break from the show while it's in Zurich from 1st February until 19th March but she's returning when the production heads to Dubai in May. Lisa O'Hare is playing Mary in La Suisse.

Apparently most of the current touring cast already know this might be going into a London theatre. Just which one
