Based on all of this, is Charlie definitely coming back, or may plans have changed? If so it might free him up for Newsies? 🤞🏻 He won’t be doing Newsies. He’s doing the Crazy for You transfer.

Trafalgar before Alanis?! Think MrB might be referring to the theatre named after a royal.

Got to see the show last Sunday …. Bought tickets direct on the Friday row F centre royal circle for £30 each view looked ok Just before the show I asked the extremely lovely box office staff if there may be some a little closer They moved us to stalls centre wow 🤩 view was awesome plenty of leg room and empty seats either side too !
Shame we had such rude people in front though in sears that cost £150 ! 2 family’s dad sat at end didn’t move sat staring forward all show 2 kids about 7 yr up and down wanted 2 booster cushions but were better behaved than the mother texting !! Told her friends she was so bored but kids seem to like it then curled up on the chair and had a sleep 💤!?
The other family 2 kids were quiet and really engaged with the show …. It was the father with his Pringles maltesers , popcorn 🍿 constantly rattling and talking to his wife and then force feeding the kids when they clearly just wanted to see the show
Still enjoyed it no petula or zizzi. Both understudies were good bird woman looked a bit young though Bert was ok wish I had seen Charlie ….. mrs brill was well brilliant 🤩 the 2 kids were ok Jane rushed her lines Michael was excellent 👍
Not as extravagant is the original I saw there many years ago but really liked the extra lighting effects added 3/5

I went again last night, Monday, on a day seat got N11 in stalls. I signed in exactly at 10.30 and there were only 4 seats available in the stalls of which i chose N11 as it was on the isle. Not sure about the rest of the theatre but the Stalls was packed to capacity. Going by the massive crowd queuing to get in it felt like going to the theatre before covid .
My second time seeing this and actually enjoyed it more than when I saw it when it opened. I had such a great seat and now realise I missed a lot of little things the first time around. I really liked Zizi Stallen first time round and thought she was just as good this time had the feeling she was still enjoying the role which is not what I had read previously. I also thought the new Bert was excellent. The young Michael Banks was definitely better last night.

Just booked to see this next month. More for Charlie Stemp than anything else.

I saw this yesterday, grabbed a TKTS day ticket for £35 and had a great stalls seat row H. I’d never seen it before, you know how you never get round to seeing some shows. I loved it! None of this “flat cast” rubbish, there was fantastic energy and cohesiveness in the ensemble, didn’t see any weak links at all. Zizi Strallen and Charlie Stemp both exemplary, and Petula Clark was fine, the woman is 89, singing on a West End stage, it’s a marvel. The set, props and stunts were all brilliant.
My only criticism is of the book and direction, but like I said this is my first time seeing this and like most of us I expect I have intense nostalgia for the Julie Andrews film and know it inside out, deviations stick out like a sore thumb, some work well (the kitchen scene) some just seem very odd decisions - altering Winifred’s plot completely, Bird Woman wandering aimlessly around at random intervals like she had escaped from some kind of facility - only seemed to take away rather than add to the story.
Anyway, if anyone is thinking of seeing this before it goes, don’t let doom predictions about lacklustre energy put you off as that definitely isn’t the case!
I was also pleasantly surprised, for a weekend matinee at a family show, children in the audience at least were very well behaved. There was an adult couple behind me chatting a few times until I shot dagger eyes at them, but the many many children were all under good control :-)

Watched the show last week with Christine Tucker as Mary Poppins, who was just perfect in the role! Even though it was a slow Thursday afternoon the cast was all on the top of their game. A really impressive revival overall. C'mon Disney+, film this before it closes!

We had her as Mary for a week during the Newcastle run when Zizi was on holiday and the first cover was injured, and she was absolutely sublime - my favourite of all the Marys I've seen in the role. Not just practically perfect... absolutely perfect!

C'mon Disney+, film this before it closes! This. The cast is wonderful, the staging is great (and could work on film even better than the larger original)... Film it!

I would imagine Disney cannot film it since the stage rights are with Cameron Mackintosh.

I would imagine Disney cannot film it since the stage rights are with Cameron Mackintosh. Disney Theatrical Productions is producing the revival in association with Cam Mac, so I wonder if they also have an option to film? Either way, CM is no stranger to filming live theater, he could film it himself and sell it to Disney. He would appreciate the extra $$$

He would appreciate the extra $$$ Cameron couldn't film it without Disney's permission either as they own the film elements like the Sherman Brothers songs and characters who didn't exist in the books. The rights to film something is not that simple especially considering that they have also deal with the Travers Estate.

Very late to the game here and have finally got around to seeing it. I did see the original production back in 2004. Thoroughly enjoyed it and had forgotten that it was darker than the film and several elements that are not in the film. All the leads were on which pleased me. Petula Clarke, bless her. Great to see such an icon on stage even though it was very brief. Zizi was excellent as Mary Poppins and kept up the Strallen reputation as being triple threats. Didn't realise the flying bit was literally at the end and I got slightly worried that it had been cut but it really was magical. She must have to run like the devil to get back on stage to take her bow. And Charlie Stemp, what can I say! I have to admit he was the main reason for me going and I wasn't disappointed. I absolutely love this guy, he has so much charm and talent. He really stole every scene he was in and boy can he dance. Step in Time was such a great routine I could watch it all night. Upper circle was closed which, for a friday night, is a little sad but the rest of the house was full. I was in the dress circle and apart from a kid behind scrunching his pop corn bag until he ate it all the audience was really well behaved. Lots of kids there but they seemed engrossed in the show.

MJ The Musical confirmed for the Prince Edward from March 2024. So presumably there’s circa a year to be filled with another show. Not long till Mary closes now so presumably something will be announced soon?

Do we think there’s any chance of this touring? Been a good 7/8 years since the last one.
