Petula Clark?? Where did that come from?! It's very Diana Rigg/My Fair Lady, get a legend to pop on for a scene or two then pop off again. 😂
I'd love to see Emma Williams as Mrs. Banks personally. Emma in everything!

Cameron is apparently adding something into the show for Petula so that she doesn't just do Feed the Birds.

She'll get nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical. I'm calling it already lol.

She'll get nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical. I'm calling it already lol. Petula is a legend, she is already in the discussion name alone. And Emma Williams gets nominated for everything. I've said it ever since she lost for Sixpence, whatever she does next, whatever role she does, she will win that Olivier* because it's her time to win, she's catching up with Glenn now, and if she played Mrs. Banks, thats a great role, and she'd slay! *she better win the goddamn next one or I swear to Lucifer.

The Bird Woman is being given something extra to do in Anything Can Happen - something with Jane and Michael.

My womb has just dropped at the news about Pet Clark going into Mary Poppins, but Charlie Stemp as well. They'll need a body bag to shift me out of my seat!

Emma in everything! Well, Petula is 86 in November, so she is entitled to pop on and off!! My betting is she won't pop anywhere until she's taken her bows!! And anyway, she's still touring Australia and Canada this year before Mary Poppins!

Which makes me wonder who is the oldest actor to grace the west end as a regular cast member (and not just a one off concert etc). Surely she’ll be up there in this?

Cameron is apparently adding something into the show for Petula so that she doesn't just do Feed the Birds. Michael Banks: "Mary, I'm so tired. It feels like we've been wandering around for hours. Can we go and sit down in that underground station for a nap?" Mary Poppins: "I'm not sure if that's a good idea" [Bird woman wanders on. Orchestra strikes up]

Ok, so that made me laugh - getting strange looks from colleagues now! It would be 'practically perfect' though

Yes what a coup for the show getting Petula. Looks like it will be a big hit.

I'd held off booking, but Petula Clark is enough to push me over the line. Fantastic singer and, when I met her a few years ago, one of the most pleasant celebrities I've ever met.

Dying to see who they cast as Miss Andrews, Rosemary Ashe absolutely smashed it when I saw it (back in the good old days when Temper Temper was still kicking around, SNIFF)

From his Twitter feed both today and a few weeks ago, it seems that Mike Jibson was on the shortlist for this. In a way, he would have been more in the mould of David Niven/David Haig.
