I enjoyed it even though to many it was uncomfortable viewing, I look forward to seeing what direction series 2 goes in.

Even though first season had plot issues (tape 13 was supposed to be a last minute thing, yet on the first episode she says 13 tapes were recorded), I loved it and can't wait for the new episodes.

Does anyone know when exactly season 2 is going to be available? Is it at midnight tonight?

Twitter says Midnight PST, so 8am UK.
I get back from a work trip tomorrow and my whole weekend I have no plans other than to binge this (maybe take an hour out to watch the wedding).

I found the first season for this really interesting and unlike most things these days rather thought provoking, it was a great concept so I'm very interested to see how things develop in season two.
This was probably one of the most difficult programmes I've ever watched (people who've seen the show will know the episode I mean) and although it was a hard watch at times I commend the writers, actors and everyone involved in creating this show - I'd like to hope this programme can have a positive impact on teenagers who are struggling to cope with life for whatever reasons.

Halfway through season 2 (episode 7) and from the last minute or two, this is the big turning point. Very good watching so far.

Finished it. There is definitely room for a third season here, but I think .. this is the end of Hannah's story. I wonder if Bryce will ever get his comeuppance. The last 20 minutes of the final episode are tense, but I'd already kinda clocked that Tyler wouldn't go through with his plan due to the lack of warnings on the episode.

Wow, just finished season two. That was intense!! That scene during the finale (if you have seen it you know what I'm talking about) was just... so f*cking hard to watch, that's all I can say right now, can't find the words.

Finished the series today and I have to say I think that THAT scene in the finale crossed a line. I understand they’re trying to raise awareness and start a conversation as they say but I think it was just too much considering the series is aimed mainly at young adults and teens younger than me (17).

Is it actually aimed at 17 or younger though? The Netflix age warning is 18 plus in this series. I applaud the attempt to raise the conversation but found the storyline a little stretched thin at times in terms of the level of the problem at just one school with literally no one speaking up among the older (and extremely verbose) student body. The scene itself was very hard to watch and I do worry about younger teens with access to Netflix and no one to process their feelings with watching something so graphic which came out of left field without essentially any warning.

Even though the age-rating is 18 I still think it’s being marketed to teens of maybe 15 up. The show just has the teen-drama vibe about it, and they use social media, especially instagram, a lot to promote the show so I think they’re definitely targetting the young adults/teens. The fact is that the 18 warning won’t do much to stop younger teens from watching it, not many parents put the parental lock on Netflix in my experience and it’s pretty easy to watch the series illegally online anyway. The show’s also based on a young adult novel, so although I think they began with the purpose of aiming this at teenagers, the material in it is starting to become too mature for us.

Fair point. Have you read the novel? I wonder How closely they stuck to original novel? It was almost like they stuck the scene in as a reason for the boy to then go on to do what he did... but they had been building up to that point from very early in season one when they showed him looking in the trunk. And after all the heat after the court case what moron would then commit a further similar crime?

I've recently re-read the book so here are all the differences I can think of: Clay listens to all the tapes in the span of one evening, the only plot-relevant people he bumps into are Marcus (throwing rocks at Tyler's house) and Ryan (following him to make sure he's listening to the tapes). Sheri is called Jenny The order of the tapes goes Justin, Alex, Jessica, Tyler, Courtney, Marcus, Zach, Ryan, Clay, Justin again, Jenny, Bryce, Mr Porter Justin spread rumours that they'd gone further than kissing, no picture was involved Courtney and Tony aren't gay (Ryan isn't confirmed either way) Courtney spread rumours of what she'd found in Hannah's room and invited her to a party only to treat her as a taxi ride, there was no picture involved with her either Tyler wasn't on the tapes for spreading a picture around, it was for stalking her and making her feel unsafe in her own room Hannah cuts her hair during the Marcus/Zach events (more significant than it sounds, because it's noted that one sign of being suicidal is a sudden change in appearance) Justin and Jessica weren't dating at the time of the party, they just hooked up. Justin didn't offer much resistance to Bryce wanting to go in the room either. The hot tub incident happens at Courtney's house, not Bryce's. Courtney was the only other person in the hot tub with them and got out and left when Bryce started getting handsy. The poem Ryan publishes is different, it makes more reference to being alone and no lacy underwear. There's no mention of Hannah's parents sueing the school. Clay sends the tapes on to Jenny the next morning, nothing happens with the 2nd set that Tony has. Clay doesn't send out a picture of Tyler
That's all the significant changes I can think of, the wording of the tapes and dialogue is different as well

I still need to read the book. I bought it one year ago and it's somewhere on my bookshelf.

And was ‘that scene’ in it? Or as suggested by media was it added to the TV series to attract ratings and conversation?

Season 1 was based off the novel and Season 2 was completely original ideas by the show’s producers/writers so no the polaroids storyline/“that” scene weren’t in the book.
