Directed by that stalwart of the fringe Phil Willmot, he pops up all over the place but never gets any high-profile work at the major subsidised venues - pity, he couldn’t do any worse than some of the directors who do.

No, there'll be no stipulation saying he has to pay. Most of the plays and musicals at the Finborough don't pay their performers. They normally use the "profit share" term, but no one gets anything. It's a shame he keeps working. The St James disaster you rightly point out should have warned others.

As an unpaid blogger who doesn't pay others to blog I feel a bit of hypocrite but it does make uncomfortable that professional productions can often be anything but. I was hearing from friend that in Amdram productions the director often gets paid, sounds like Wilmott is using the same model here.
Finborough is reasonably priced and often sells well (though as you say when is it ever profitable) but does explain why it can have these large scale projections like Incident at Vichy which other spaces couldn't afford to do.

I'm sure all the publicity at the time said that Resurrection Blues was Miller's final play.I feel cheated now Well the publicity also said it was a world premier for the Old Vic and it wasn’t that either and even the director Robert Altman didn’t know (he said he wouldn’t have directed it if he had known)

Hi everyone, It's definitely Arthur Miller's final play - only seen once before in Chicago, and we had to get special permission from his daughter to do it. Re pay, Phil's show is paying - at the moment - weekly expenses and profit share (which we hope will be a good one). We have an Arts Council application pending though, so we hope to pay a lot more than that if it's successful. Please keep your fingers crossed for us. Phil is on the same deal as everyone else involved, as always. The other two shows in the season are on the Equity Fringe Agreement rates or better. All best, Neil

Hi Dr Jan, No it wouldn't be that much sadly once it's split between everyone working on the show (including all the creative team as well as actors) as we only have 50 seats, we try and keep the seat price accessible, many seats will be sold as concessions etc. The weekly expenses are paid solely from all of the money we get from the Theatre Tax Relief scheme for this show, plus all of the money we get from interest on our charitable reserves (100% of all income from both those sources goes only towards fees on our in house shows), so 100% of all and any profit will only go to the company and crew, and we always do Open Book accounts so they'll be able to see where everything went. TBF to Wilmott the writer took over directing, I am not sure how much of Wilmott's work was even in the final show!
OT but what happened to the planned revival of Exposure the Musical!?

All booked for 30 June. All kudos to the Finborough for doing this but its a shame the National or even the Almeida or Donmar didnt take this on. I mean its Arthur Miller's last play!! Will be interesting to see the cast.
