I just can't feel inspired enough to go. I haven't seen the film and never fancied it.
Edit: WAIT A MINUTE! Arthur Hughes! I LOVED him in Julius Caesar last year, and he was good in St Joan that was screened to cinemas.
Who did Lucy Black play in the York Realist? I only saw that a few weeks back and I have no recollection of her at all.

I'd entirely forgotten the sister, although she did get a lot of the laughs, now I remember.

Yeah, sorry! I don't watch that many films and I don't like Jack Nicholson much so I've never seen it. If it ever comes on telly at a time when I'm at a loose end I might watch it.
Anyway, I am going to see this, mainly because I got a £15 front row ticket and it's got Arthur Hughes in it.

Just a really good film, with some great actors.

Just a really good film, with some great actors. And one of only three films in the history of the Oscars to win 'The Big 5' - Film, Director, Actor, Actress and Screenplay.

Opening night proper last night.
As much drama offstage as on!

I saw this today. It was good. I haven't seen the film, so bits of it were really shocking to me. I didn't know what was going to happen.
I think Jenny Livsey did really well. It was only mid way through the second act that I realised her clip board had the lines on. She didn't refer to it much, but brandished it about in a sort of officious way, which seemed to fit right in with the character, and then I realised it was a back up just in case - she referred to it in a couple of scenes when other characters were talking. If you hadn't know she'd only just stepped in you'd never have been able to tell.
I wondered whether there was some bad blood about Lucy Black dropping out? I can't find anything online other than "she had an accident on Sunday and Jenny Livsey stepped in" - there was no mention of what happened, nothing about wishing Lucy Black well, nothing about hope she's ok, nothing sympathetic from any of the cast on twitter... all very hush hush. But anyway, Jenny Livsey was excellent.

Last night's performance had to be cancelled due to "sudden illness in the company".

I thought the curtain call was really short yesterday afternoon - AND I don't think I could see Joel Gillman onstage during the curtain call. I had assumed he was blocked by one of the other actors as I was on the front row at stage level and it wasn't easy to see everyone. But maybe he had been taken ill? I was a bit concerned about the final scene on the bed, when he was bandaged up, as I thought that might have been a bit dangerous to act without actually hurting him... I hope nothing too serious has happened.

I wonder if, during rehearsals, someone unwittingly wished the cast "good luck".

I wonder if, during rehearsals, someone unwittingly wished the cast "good luck". Either that or someone’s been using black magic against this production!

It seems odd to me. There's no performance scheduled tonight, but on the website it says tomorrow is sold out. Now on Saturday afternoon it was maybe half to two thirds full, so I can't believe it's sold out suddenly. And looking on facebook from others who were there on Saturday afternoon, Joel Gillman definitely wasn't at the curtain call, it wasn't just my imagination. The curtain call felt really quite subdued.

I’m coming down from Merseyside on Saturday for the matinee show. Hopefully everything will be sorted out by then!
