I’m very excited for this - I missed it entirely on its previous engagement due to life stuff, and only became aware of the show through the Broadway cast recording which was the soundtrack to a significant portion of my working from home during lockdown… Can’t wait!

Jagged Little Pill was announced across several platforms but still, nothing happened.
Maybe HADESTOWN will have better luck. Time will tell.

Not to cast a bum note but let’s go ahead and spread some negativity shall we? Let people be excited. This looks way more certain than the Jagged Little Pill announcement was. For both London and NYC, shows are often announced that fail to ultimately get mounted. That's just the way it is. Should someone merely point this out, anyone excited about the potential for a show can just take this reality in stride and go back to their rejoicing should they so desire. We don't need to silence people who point out the vagaries of this business. |

It just makes the poster come across as a sourpuss who can't stand to see others happy. That said, Hadestown comes loaded with Tony Awards, a massively popular cast recording and has just celebrated its 1000th performance on Broadway. That's QUITE a different animal from a show that flopped on Broadway and was mired in controversy. |

I didn't see the post that way nor did I see it as an immediate dampening. It was just another perspective.
We each get to choose the weight we attached to it. I read it, saw some truth in it, and moved on to the next comment. People share things here all the time that run counter to my thoughts and feelings. I learn from them when I can and discard the rest.

JAGGED LITTLE PILL was not ‘mired in controversy’. There was an issue over the reinterpretation of a non-binary character but it was a tempest in a teacup. It is currently touring the US.
HADESTOWN did find great success on Bway but didn’t set the box office on fire at The National. Maybe it will be an easier sell the second time around?

Sorry to be the voice of reason again but someone on this very site told me last summer they knew someone who had been interviewing for a production management role for "Jagged Little Pill" in London so it was "definitely happening". It still hasn't happened and appears dead in the water. Planning for it to transfer and it actually happening are 2 different things but again, great if it does. More than a handful of shows are currently 'planning' London openings (but most still don't have theatres anywhere near booked), MJ being the exception. |
