So the TV show Riverdale is doing a special 'Carrie - The Musical' Episode and they have released 2 songs before it airs tomorrow night.
I can't wait. They're pretty good. Apparently they're doing 11 of the songs from the show.

I've never seen this show. Is it similar to Glee? Or is this musical thing a 'special event' like they did in Grey's Anatomy?
P.S. I loved Grey's Anatomy musical episode.

It’s a little bit campy, but I wouldn’t say it’s like Glee. The storylines are consistent and there’s usually a dark element to the episodes. There are maybe usually one or two songs every other episode in the context of the school band performing at an event, but not spontaneously. This is more like a one-off format. |

Riverdale is based on a comic book, the school band is 'Josie & the Pussycats' who have been featured in other shows (and their own film). I initially hated it but it's a grower and can get quite dark in it's themes.

"A little bit campy", like how water is "a little bit wet".  My sister watched the first season of Riverdale but hasn't touched the second season yet. She asked me to give her a rundown of what she'd missed so far, and honestly it sounded like I was recounting a big ol' soapy fever dream, and I know I missed a LOT of stuff out. I think the best thing about this episode is the way they advertised is as BIG NEWS! THE RIVERDALE CHARACTERS DOING A MUSICAL!. Guys, it's big news when they *don't* find a reason to sing in an episode, try again. |

Love ‘Riverdale’ & love the ‘Carrie’ MT score & think this will work perfectly!!
And yes it’s nice it’s a full out musical when we normally get musical numbers but performed as a band!

They appear to have cut most of the good songs from Carrie's mother? Very disappointing. Carrie the musical in name only.

...I wouldn’t rush! It was moderately diverting at best. I enjoyed the first series but never really clicked with it again. One dimensional characters making all the obvious moves. A couple of the girls had solid enough voices but the rest was just fun. It does make me want to see an all out balls to the wall spectacle version of the show though 😀

Love Broadway recording best but ‘In’ is brilliant from this both on film & on soundtrack...this is essentially a kid scared to come out anthem & ‘Riverdale’ catches it!! However nothing will top swing at Southwark expected a camp fest but being greeted with one of the strongest scores of a movie musical!! |
