I'm finding this quite impressive actually. I wish it had been on three consecutive days over Easter ( yes, BBC some people do sit down in front of the telly three days in a row at Easter..) but I’m looking forward to last episode. I haven't worked it out yet though I think I have worked out parts of it.

Well I think this must be one of the books I haven't read but thought I knew from previous adaptations only turns whilst the basis premise is the same the rest is pretty different, so i'm not assuming the same person will be responsible this time, makes me want to go find the book.

I wish it had been on three consecutive days over Easter Yes - they could easily have scheduled it that way, or done it Sunday, Monday and the following Sunday. The events appear to be taking place over three consecutive days, and I presume it was originally designed for a three day showing, as Sarah Phelps' other Christie adaptations were shown over Christmas 2015 and 16. Btw, we were having a little discussion on this on the 'theatre actors on the telly' thread because of Luke Treadaway etc..

Just about sticking with this but think they're taking lots of liberties with Christie's work. I don't think she would have approved of all the bad language and sexual references

I'm enjoying it. I like that it's updated to sound more modern - I have no idea what Agatha Christie would have thought, and to be honest I don't really care. I think the black daughter saying f*** in that context was utterly appropriate and made it feel far more realistic.
Not that I have any clue what's going on. I don't think I know anyone's name. I really like the nuclear war fear which again adds to the realism for me.
From the very beginning I thought the housekeeper dun it, because her ridiculous screaming was so excessive. I have no idea though.

Completely forgot about this! Just downloaded the first 2 episodes tonight so I can catch up. Hopefully it will be just as good as the previous Christie story adaptations.

I’m loving it! I really like all the changes they made from the book, works much better for me. Well, maybe except for Luke’s character reasons of absence (in the book he got hit by the car and lost this part of the memory)
Anthony Boyle is amazingly disgusting.
You can really see the reshooted scenes with the guy who replaced Ed Westwick. There was one with him swimming and it really is visibly cold in there!
I wonder how many people will hate me if I spoil the ending from the book (just kidding!)

I haven't read the book and only know it from the more light-hearted ITV Marple (I think they added Miss Marple to several non-Marple books for that series). It's really good, though I presume the housekeeper is part Mary Poppins, part Jesus if she can conjour up that wedding banquet single handed! The only weak point for me is Bill Nighy. In interviews he sounds bored with acting and I think it comes across in most of his recent roles, but maybe there'll be a twist and a reveal.

I'm enjoying this due to the acting and costumes - I'm not a Christie fan so haven't read the book or seen any other adaptations and haven't a clue whodunnit. Great performances from Matthew Goode, Luke Treadaway, Alice Eve and Eleanor Tomlinson in particular. crowblack, I like Bill Nighy in this - I like the way he's sort of ambling along, letting everything happen around him, including The Wedding. There's got to be a twist around him, surely?

Thoroughly bored by the whole thing. Controlling posh mother would not have tolerated all those accents amongst her acquired offspring, and Aggie would not have approved of all the unnecessary swearing. All of the caricatures are so obnoxious why the f*** (sorry Agatha) would anyone care who did what to whom?

There's got to be a twist around him, surely? Hopefully - on past form, the screenwriter Sarah Phelps likes things twisty and dark.

Just caught up with Episodes One and Two and now ready for tonight’s finale... Loving it. It looks fabulous, although the paper Christmas trees and snowflakes, not to mention the setting on Christmas Eve and the sound of carols, are at odds with the new timing of its screening.
They’re all excellent but the standout for me is Matthew Goode who was... rather good, wasn’t he? And very different from the roles I’ve seen him in previously.
But whodunnit? I dunno...

In the newspaper it says the writer has changed the original ending but I’m wondering if this is to stop people broadcastting around the ending and a so a very good ploy. I’m all over conspiracy theories.

Anubis... the name of his boat in Episode One pointed us towards the murder weapon!
Well done, BBC! (And for all the extra work too...)

Yaaay that was excellent! And a little bit Inside No9 at the end there. So, which one is she adapting next year?

Yes, really enjoyed that though I 'got' it before the reveal as I suspect everyone else did! It is always the money. Stylish tv.

Actually enjoyed the final instalment, though the last five minutes seemed a bit rushed given how slow the rest of the episodes were. I'd sort of guessed whodunnit, didn't see the final scene coming though!

Anthony Boyle is amazingly disgusting. Yeah, he's good - I didn't see the Harry Potter play but I've seen him fleetingly in a couple of things on TV. I'll try to catch the Christopher Eccelstone series he's just been in before it goes off iplayer.

The book ending is completely changed and the killer is different in the series.
I liked the movie version more. And the final scene is just precious!

I saw Boyle in the play, although from the upper balcony, but that didn’t stop me from liking him a lot. He was great in it as well!

It was OK. Probably need to watch it again, to catch everything, but not sure I want to; certainly not any time soon.
To me it seems like a cynical cash-in on Agatha Christie’s name, without using much of her plot. If they’d changed a few names they could’ve got away with calling it a completely new drama.

I'd never read the book, but after just looking up the synopsis online it's almost unrecognisable to the BBC version

You prompted me to look up the synopsis too, and yes, completely different - but I must say I prefer the BBC take! Gave everyone a lot more to play with so it’s not just about the mechanics of working out whodunnit.

I noticed from the credits that it was an Agatha Christie Ltd co-production, so the estate (her grandson, I think) must have been happy with the changed ending.
Personally, I think I prefer AC adaptions that are faithful to the original books.
