Gosh, it's like running into your ex-husband and discovering he's spent an absolute fortune on some really disastrous hair plugs, isn't it?

It just looks a lot like the Broadway.com site to me. I think it looks a lot cleaner than the old site myself.

Not very user friendly, my big complaint at the moment is sites that have never ending scrolling, it makes it impossible to find a page which something is on when all you can do is spend ages scrolling down. The Amazon Wishlist has been pretty much ruined by doing the same (and they don’t even allow you to search your lists anymore either).
You wouldn't publish a book on one never ending scroll of paper, so why do what is effectively the same?

I don't like not being able to single out reviews any more, as they are my prime reason for visiting that site and many others. I would sometimes read the news items if one caught my eye, but now "News & Reviews" seem all jumbled up together and in fact I found only one actual review amongst all the so-called news. So I may just give up on WOS.

If you click on the review category you get a full page of all the reviews. Same with news and interviews etc. www.whatsonstage.com/news?categories=reviews

I've re-set my bookmark to save time in future and, I hope, to avoid seeing again the mis-spelling of "theatre".

Don't blame them for the redesign - they had to do something to maintain their hard earned position as "most disliked theatre website" against stiff competition from TodayTix.

Don't like it as you have to click on the picture to know what the story is about. I prefer to read the headline then decide if I want to read the article.

Sir,
Why, oh why, oh why, do companies upgrade their websites and invariably make them more cr*p than they were ever before. No indexation, no clue as to what the pretty pictures mean unless you click on them - actually, clueless in all senses of the word.

This might be a website bug on certain browsers - I am using Safari on a Mac and I see the headlines beneath the pics. Still don't like the new site though.

I don't like the rebuild. As I check the site regularly for updates on theatre news, I like to see that easily and have reviews separate.

Where else can we get quick MT news of the day, anyone? Especially now that The Stage only let's you browse for a short time without paying! Suggestions?

It's plays rather than MT which interest me but the principle is the same. The Stage is the only website which invariably lists running time, which is essential info for me and whilst their paywall is a commercial decision for them, I don't understand their business model: I might be prepared to pay for website access but not the amount they ask for their package and when every other review site is free (excluding reviews in newspapers whose websites also have a paywall, eg The FT), why does The Stage think anyone will pay?

Well I pay but then I pay to other websites as well for content, because I want The Stage to be able to pay contributers. A year's website subscription to The Stage is just under £40 which is less than £1 per week, and I'm happy to pay that to get real journalism. To be clear, I'm not criticising anyone who chooses not to pay, and certainly not anyone who can't afford to pay, but for the value I get from The Stage content, I'm happy to pay 77p per week.

WOS making their website very unuser friendly could backfire as people might stop using that site it it is too much of a faff and may start using other websites that could crop up.

I used to visit Whatsonstage.com several times a day to keep up to date, and since the website update, have visited it twice. The first time last week and couldnt access anything, kept getting error messages etc, and once again today to see if they have improved or updated it, and it was worse today than last week, so their website is now completely unusable, and seems to look as horrible and clunky as lovetheatre. I havent seen or read anyone online saying they like this new website. Do we think they will end up changing it back or do people think they have probably invested too much money in it to go back to the old way?
