I'm surprised not to find anything about this on here, especially following the recent discussion about the Bush. Perhaps because its maybe more a performance piece than a play? I've heard nothing but great things about this however, written and performed by the marvelous Arinzé Kene, and can't wait to see it next Monday. Has anyone else been? It's just extended for a week and is selling well, so appears to be a big success for the theatre.

I've liked Arinze Kene in previous work & I do go to the Bush when the production appeals, but I haven't forgiven them the last pile of poo yet & I'm definitely a play, not performance person.

I’ve seen it. It’s fantastic. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Does anyone know if there are any discount codes for this?

I don't know about discounts per se, but you can side-step ATG's ridiculous booking fees by booking through the Bush website, if you don't find anything better.

It's a one off transaction fee, not a per ticket booking fee (unlike DMT's site if you want to book Height of the Storm, for example). I genuinely don't see how that can be labelled ridiculous?

As an individual ticket buyer who 99% of the time is only buying for one person, it makes zero difference to me if additional fees are a per ticket booking fee or a one-off transaction fee. Either way, that's extra money on top of what the theatre says "this is the price of the ticket!", and if you think I'm the only person who considers ATG's £3.50 additional fee one of the pricier ones, then you must be newer here than your post count suggests.

I bring it up every time I see someone rage about it, as it happens, since it's always mystified me. Other agents charge way more, DMT's attitude to dynamic pricing for all their venues more than outweighs a one off fee (and they're also not above charging per ticket booking fees either, as I mention above). To book directly with the theatre online for Bat Out Of Hell, they'll charge you £2.50 for box office collection or posting the tickets. LW Theatres will charge you £1.50 for that. ATG never add any charges for those options, for example. I've noticed for years now, and not just on here, that ATG's reputation for this kind of thing is horrendous, when other companies apply similar charges in slightly different ways and nobody says a peep.

So unfair, too, to charge the same fee regardless of ticket cost or number of tix per booking. If they must charge, a proportional fee would be fairer, as some venues levy.

Hmm can the ticket fees chat go somewhere more appropriate.
I'm hoping to get to this in October.

Ace news! I was planning to squeeze this into a day trip on the 11th October. Having an extra month to play with makes things a lot easier to work out, although it does now mean I've booked train tickets for a day when I could have waited a couple of weeks and done a more economic trip to catch Hadestown at the same time.

Misty has extended until 17th November which I suspect was always the plan. I suspect the same, they seemed to have dates available to the 17th when I first tried booking, the latter few weeks of which vanished soon after.

Well this was not for me.
You’ve got some sh*t on your chest. You’ve got two hours and a stage on the West end (technically). And an urge to make a point. So you cobble a bit of a story together and fanny around with balloons and then cop out an ending because you don’t know how write it. You want to make a call to arms over the gentrification of London? Yes! Absolutely. Now is the time to do that. But don’t do that by isolating other groups. Turning one minority against another. Don’t like that there’s more than one variety of tea? Take it to Twitter, I’ve no time for that in a “Featre”. No fault to the execution of this, as the performance was committed and flawless. It’s the writing that, for me, let this down. Too many different points ineffectivly made. (Is it called Misty because the point is out there in the mist, somewhere?..) Very well directed and it sounded amazing - So good to hear sub in obnoxious amounts in a theatre.
What it ultimately boiled down to was the writer not liking some bad previous reviews and so taking two hour from us to nag about it. Don’t like what the reviewers have said about your writing? Don’t write a piece bitching b(l)ack at them, write something that will silence them. I wanted to love this, maybe my previous experience of gig-theatre left me with expectations too high. Very full house and a very responsive audience who lapped it all up though.

@serial Shusher while I really loved this piece I am relieved that someone else noticed that the script needed far more work. The author just has to mention various topics and the house goes wild. However it is quite a wonderful piece of theatre - the live music, the performances - and I would recommend it. Shush, out of interest what other gig-Theatre pieces have you seen?

After much consideration I think it might be called back Misty because when something gets misty it gets gradually whiter and whiter. I think this point might be that's that's happening to the places he talks about in the show i.e. gentrification.

Arinzé absolutely has the audience in his hands mentioning various points @cleoskryker but I think thats in part more down to the delivery more than the points made. Had this production been exactly the same but with different words it may have got me. Hell if every word was rhubarb I may have enjoyed it more. Although opening an act spending 15minutes rolling around in a balloon, whilst showcasing some great physical theatrical skills, really was a waste of time for me. Yes it shows the 'virus' taking over and the struggle of getting caught up in the class war but it belittled the point. I must admit my first exposure to gig-theatre was only this summer at Edinburgh Fringe, but pieces there like Electrolyte just nailed it for me.

Saw this tonight, I've got to say it's one of the best pieces of performance I've ever seen! What Arinze does up there is really nothing short of astounding!

@theatremonkey.com - clicking on the above link tells me "This show has now closed".
Note also for anyone else thinking of taking up this offer, the understudy Kibong Tanji will be playing the role this Thursday matinee, the 8th, according to the ATG ticketing site.

Nah, something weird is going on. LoveTheatre gives the seating plan but when you try to checkout it says the performance is no longer available. I'll try again another time.

Note also for anyone else thinking of taking up this offer, the understudy Kibong Tanji will be playing the role this Thursday matinee, the 8th, according to the ATG ticketing site. That's going to be fascinating to watch as Kibong Tanji is female - she's a recent graduate of Central School of Speech and Drama - and was excellent in their production of A Chorus Line earlier this year. Quick bit of googling brought up this from an interview which Arinzé Kene gave to Time Out: Q: You’ve got a female understudy, Kibong Tanji. That’s pretty interesting… A: I was adamant that this was an opportunity to think quite open-mindedly. I try and be actively conscious about ways we can improve in the industry. The actual story is not specific to a man’s experience, the stories are about a person from the inner city and a creative person. She’s going to give me a run for my money: the understudy run is going to shut down the West End!
