Thought Baz Bamigboye said a few weeks ago they were trying to bring in a play from Chichester for a few months, before a musical went in there? Nope that's falling through, from what I've heard from an ATG box office.

It happens more often than you'd think Its not going to be dark. What's been put there? From what I've heard, nothing has been confirmed yet

Referring to me then? Alright cool mate. You're kind of saying the same thing but saying it's not going to be dark.

Interval time. I never enjoyed this really at the Savoy. It was good but meh. Today, I am really enjoying it! And there is four reasons mainly: the four leads. Rebel is phenomenal! Hilarious, touching and in a league of her own. She is making the show! To get applause at the end of every scene she leaves in is testimony to just how good she is. The other three are fantastic too and alot better than the Original Savoy cast much as I enjoyed Jamie Parker. Siubhan has improved dramatically and Oliver and Simon are brilliant too. But this is truly the Rebel show for me. To have a celebrity casting that works this well is very rare and so worth it! Trust me, to those who haven't seen it but are tempted, do not miss this performance. Go in the next week.

Saw this last night and agree with Daniel. Having known nothing about the show we booked purely to see Rebel who just lit up the stage when she was on. I don't know how her interpretation compares to others but from seeing Rebel in films it did seem like she played Adelaide as Rebel Wilson.
The other leads were fab too but there was just something missing from the show to totally keep my attention. A friend who was with us said she was bored in the non-Rebel stuff, it lost a bit of pace.
Glad I saw it as Rebel was hilarious but not one I'd rush back to see...

Well that was fantastic! The second half of this musical is naturally better anyway, but wow! Firstly I forgot just how damn good the choreography for this show is, incredible! Rebel continued to stun, as did the other leads and the ensemble! Oliver really went for the belt at the end of Luck Be A Lady and earned the applause and cheers at the end. Shiubaun cried during the duet with Billy Boyle and at the bows. No speeches but a well deserved standing ovation from everyone and hugs onstage. I doa agree with the above post that the scenes that don't include Rebel fo feel lacking, but I think Simon and Oliver in particular are the reasons it does not become a massive issue for me personally.

Saw this today. I'm not going to comment on Rebel other than: So not for me. Really enjoyed Oliver as Sky. Simon does well as Nathan. I love seeing him on stage. He's very over the top and not your typical Nathan but for him this take works (anyone else would look ridiculous). Thought Siubhan was ok. Sarah is the part I like least in the show and the only people who have managed to make me enjoy watching the character were Jenna Russel and Kelly Price back in the Piccadilly Theatre days.

Ah it is a shame you didn't like Rebel. I was there today and the audiences were loving her from where I was, including myself. But I agree with Oliver and Simon. Siubhan was good too, but Sarah is a really crap character in all honesty anyway, so it can't be helped.

Thought I should explain why I didn't enjoy seeing Rebel in the show. The thing is, for me Miss Adelaide is the heart of the show. Rebel was playing it for the laughs (the cheap ones) - to an extend where I wanted to hide under my seat. I've got nothing against her as a performer but this was not Miss Adelaide. This was Rebel Wilson being - well - Rebel Wilson. A lot of people seemed to enjoy it which is fair enough. But having seen performers like Jane Krakowski in the role I just couldn't warm to Rebel at all. Simon is playing along and like I said, I don't think he's Nathan in the typical sense but it works (he's just incredibly good when it comes to ad libs and such).
The production itself wasn't a patch on the Piccadilly Theatre production I think. I had a good afternoon but even if the show wasn't closing I wouldn't rush back to see it again (and I love Guys and Dolls in general).

I was briefly tempted to see this for Simon Lipkin, but having seen Jane Krakowski who was my best ever Adelaide I couldn't get my head around Rebel at all so decided against.
I'm glad so many people are enjoying seeing Rebel and I hope it has brought some more youngsters to the theatre, but I just knew that she wasn't the Adelaide for me!

Sometimes.....when you have nothing good to say it is best to say nothing at all.
I post thoughts on here (not really reviews) when I have seen a good show and enjoyed it - most recently JCS at Regents Park. However, if I have seen a show that I have not liked, or thought not very good I usually keep quiet and not post anything. This current incarnation of Guys and Dolls was a case in point.

I find one of the strengths of this forum is the platform it provides for all views, theatre is after-all a highly subjective experience. Provided they are expressed in a respectful manner, I don't see any problem with people explaining why they haven't enjoyed a show or a particular performance. All part of the rich tapestry

It's about justifying your comments, I agree. If you can, then that's a debate we can have on here. If you just want to sling mud without explanation, it gives us mods work we'd rather not do. I worked out my thoughts on the show and wrote them up. On my site if anyone is interested. A disappointing afternoon. Agree 100% with your view on Rebel's Adelaide.

I'm surprised the asthma joke is a regular, it seemed genuinely ad-libbed on Sunday. So in that respect, well done on the acting front Rebel. I remember the moment the joke happened and a lot of people laughed, but I didn't laugh at the joke, I laughed at Rebel performing it. She is a hilarious person.

I saw the show last night. House Full sign was out so any hope of an upgrade from my £15 Upper Circle seat was out the window. In reality, I don't really know why this seat was so heavily reduced. Perfect view for 99.9% of the show (Adelaide's Lament is the only part where you might "miss" something, and even then you can see her face and upper half of her body perfectly). Would highly recommend! Very young audience too which surprised me (but gave me plenty of material for the bad behaviour thread!), clearly there to see Rebel Wilson who got a smattering of entrance applause both for her first scene and throughout the show.
Before I continue, I was one of the young people who bought a ticket to see This show off the back of Rebel being involved. The Piccadilly production was one of my first West End experiences and I was keen to see what Rebel would do with the part. She doesn't play Adelaide though. She plays Rebel Wilson as Adelaide. Lots of slapstick comedy, fat girl jokes and sarcastic one liners. When you get over the fact that, this isn't going to be a normal portrayal of Adelaide, you can really get into it. And that's exactly what I did. Say what you want about her portrayal but she had people rolling in the aisles last night. I think she'll be a theatre star for decades to come. Even if the film work dries up, she'll be able to land any theatre role she wants if she keeps packing houses and entertaining audiences like she did last night.
Oh, and the asthma joke was there last night too.

Oh, and the asthma joke was there last night too. I went on Saturday for the same reason as you, to see Rebel Wilson! This wouldn't have been my usual musical to see and I'm glad I did as I did enjoy it - we also had the asthma joke (Saturday night) and many other ad-libs and stares to the audience for laughter. For me it really worked, but I've nothing to compare this show against. Rebel really is a class act and I hope she does more theatre work.
