Just looked on Lorna Gayle's Instagram (who plays General Cartwright in London) and her bio says "Appearing in G&D at the Phoenix Theatre until the 28th August 2016".
Maybe that is when she is leaving the show too or maybe that's when it closes? I doubt that's when it closes but I thought cast changes all happened on the same day

It's all a bit confusing...
I emailed ATG to ask whether I could book tickets for September/October/November as I had heard a rumour of the show closing in August I did want to have to organise ticket cancellation or rearranging dates - well that was the line I went for anyway. They replied saying it's booking till January and rumours have been confused with Rebel's leaving date. But then again that could just be a corporate brush off before making an official an announcement if one is going to be made.
But definitely all the different leaving dates are strange. At the moment we've got Siubhan, Oliver, Gavin and some ensemble leaving 14th, Simon and Rebel on 21st and Lorna the week after.

I guess because no official announcement has been made yet, they can't tell a member of the public if the show is closing or not as then more rumours fly around. It is hard to call as if a news show was going in there for September, it's way too late to announce it now and then get marketing out and ticket sales etc. They want business to be booming over the Christmas season too as that is when tourists come and sales should be high - but if a show isn't delivering money then... The leaving dates are strange. I've never known cast members to leave over 3 weeks - usually cast change is all on one day together?

Maybe Lorna's going to play all the roles for a week.

I'm not sure but I don't think the show did too badly over Christmas last year at the Savoy, and with a big name in from November to January closing (possibly with another name in until November) the show could do equally well at the box office. I just wish that they would make an announcement either way now about closing or a new cast as for the people who have tickets booked a bit in advance it may not be possible for them to rearrange.

Apparently the cast have received their notice for 3 weeks time, so that makes the closing date the 21st August.

It's also the last day of the Tour today!

Pretty definitive now:

It is a shame, wouldn't be surprised if a small filler, maybe an already touring show, comes in for the Autumn/Christmas season.

Maybe Ross could replace Guys and Dolls, but possible Jesus Christ Superstar could transfer here? I'm gutted the show's closing, it adds some old fashioned style to London. It was going to be my go-see show before An American in Paris. Hopefully I'll get down for closing day.

Didn't Baz announce that Chichester show?
If not, Superstar is a solid bet.

If it were Superstar, I would be a limited run then unless they The Girls is doing crap business.

It's a shame as its a good show. However, I think the show would've been better if it didn't move to the Phoenix following the Savoy - end on a high without losing ticket sales and it being obvious that it wasn't doing too well.
I think since BILB failed more than expected, ATG needed a new show in there really quickly to replace it and G&D was ideal. I'm also surprised they extended to January only a few months ago if ticket sales weren't good?
I don't get it why some cast are leaving the 14th if it closes on the 21st. Can't they just stay on for another week? I presume either tour cast or understudies will step in

The Girls booked that theatre ages ago so ATG can't just take it off them - if The Girls has been due to go in there in Jan, then it will. ATG will want something to go to the Phoenix though for the Christmas season but as its only 4 months, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a play

I've always had my doubts about Guys and Dolls extending beyond the 21st. All Rebel's posters' said Guys and Dolls now playing till 21st August, not staring Rebel Wilson till 21st August. When I asked the cast a while back they just thought it was Rebel's leaving date, but maybe it was the producers' clever way of indirectly hinting an early closure.

I am getting very confused now with so many contradictions as to when it is closing and when cast are leaving, I am booked to see it on Monday 15th August with the sole purpose of seeing Rebel and Simon but after seeing it was closing on the 14th was about to bring my date forward a few days. So are we now saying its closing on the 21st with some of the cast leaving earlier? What I need to know is are Rebel and Simon still there on the 15th? Anyone know?

Simon and Rebel are both in it until the 21st. Oliver is leaving on the 14th.

FYI - Simon is going to be in the 2 show only reprise of "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" at The Arts on Monday, 15 August. I haven't seen this mentioned on the board anywhere I don't think.

I saw this in its short run at the Arts Studio last year and loved it - the whole cast (including Simon) excellent. Thoroughly recommended.
