I instantly thought the Other Palace when I heard this announced. Not sure why, but what do people think?

Not again. This show had two out of town tryouts in the US (DC and Chicago) that were supposedly pre-Broadway. None of this material is really good and the score is so bland. I don't understand why they never used to the film soundtrack for this stage adaptation. There is an abridged version of Wind Beneath My Wings, but that's all.

I do agree with everything you have said, the main problem with this show (for me) is the music - I don't believe Iris Rainer Dart should have anything to do with the score. However, Beaches is my favourite film and I loved both of the books, so I would be very excited to see this in London.

Maybe Shoshana Bean will make her West End theatre debut here finally with this show. She deserves better, though.

There may be (probably is) a thread already in the International section, but considering Beaches the musical is now apparently going to be playing in London in 2019 before a Broadway run, it may be alright to set up a thread here! “ That would be the hope,” Iris Rainer Dart, 74, who wrote the novel of which the movie is based, reveals to ET. It’s not sounding hugely definite.

A friend of a friend was writing this, i cant remember if he was doing music or lyrics or book or an amalgamation - but he passed away last year so im unsure how they'd edit what he'd already done to bring it up to scratch...

Probably as likely as Sleepless The Musical which is “opening in Plymouth this autumn prior to a west end run”... apparently sleeplessthemusical.com/

We were going to do it on the board...we all brought buckets, spades and ice-cream and sang ‘Daytrip To Bangor’...CM looked at it but said we were too expensive and could we do it without a revolve....

They really need to stop making Beaches happen. It never worked in any of its two previous incarnations. And Lonny Price can barely get a decent revival of a tried and tested show up, let alone a musical that's in trouble to begin with.
