Any word on this yet? They've put out a warning about gore and body parts.

Definitely one of the best things I've seen all year. April De Angelis has done a wonderful job with this adaptation - she retains the emotion and the drama of the piece very well. When I go to see a story I know well I always lower my expectations, especially if it's anything remotely horror/sci-fi/supernatural related. But this production gets the balance of drama and spectacle just right; it's both a traditional and inventive production. Half of the banquette seats were empty so if you want to see this for £10 then giving the box office a ring is definitely worth it.
All of the performances are strong. Harry Attwell is brilliant as the Monster - terrifying then heart-wrenching!! The staging is equally strong. The first 20 minutes felt a tad slow but once it got going every five minutes brought something brilliant. After The Almighty Sometimes last month and this, The Exchange is quickly becoming my favourite theatre in the country. Hopefully the rest of the year will be of this quality.
Don't read the spoiler if you're going to see this - I'm glad I went in knowing nothing about this production. {Spoiler - click to view} I love how creative this was -Frankenstin's brother Michael is portrayed by a puppet, for instance. Darkness and the fear of the unknown is used effectively. I was perched down on the banquettes so every time there was a black out I was convinced something was right in front of me. The staging was great - rain, fire, blood... all the things that make drama great, eh??

Couple of nice jumpy bits, some kids screamed haha. I didn’t find the monster convincing I’m afraid and I think the horror elements could have been played up waaaaaay more. Enjoyable enough ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Enjoyable enough ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sorry to hear about the monster, did the director do ‘Puttin’ on the Ritz a bot too comedic?’ Love the way you done the stars on the end, should see this Thursday on my Northern tour.

Just watched this tonight. WOW! What a great piece of theatre. The Royal Exchange really is on a roll at the moment with some fantastic productions and this is another one to add to the list. Overall I really couldn’t fault the production and all the cast played their parts well to make a great night.
I really have to credit the lighting crew on this production to really give that extra sense of gothic horror. Sat in the stalls really made this a great night as I was up close to the cast and added that bit extra, particularly during some of the special effects.
I thought the monster design was really effective without being over the top. Though at times, probably due to the lighting, I thought the guy playing the monster looked a bit like Richard o Brian’s Riff Raff from rocky horror. I’m glad they kept the design simple as it could of so easily been turned into something terrible.
If you haven’t all ready seen it, get yourself down to the Royal Exchange for a great night out.

I thought this to be a hugely profound, haunting, disturbing, beautifully staged production, with a playful structure to keep you on your toes. With the usual basket overhead now removed, this space is more panoramic than ever. Yep there are great, great horror moments, but some dry humour, very clever effects and a heartbreaking creature. I had fallen out of love with the exchange for some of their threadbare ugly productions, like Peruasion and Streetcar, but they threw everything at this and it delivered. Such a clever script. Loved it.
