A bit late to this thread but I grew up in Ayrshire, in the West of Scotland, but have lived in London for 30 years now - Stratford E15, then Ealing briefly, and Islington for the last 20 years or so.

Me too - loving the pets that is. I’ve never seen Cats, the show. Slightly off the topic of this thread but I don’t like cats- the animal. I subscribe to the theory that in this world you fall into one on three camps; you’re a cat person and don’t like dogs, you’re a dog person and don’t like cats or you’re a bit we partial to both cats and dogs. Personally, I fall into the second category which I feel is somewhat ironic as cat forms the last half of my surname. There's a fourth category as far as I'm concerned - you're a neither person.

Either that or I need a 5th category where you like both animals seen at a distance/in cute photos but don't want to have to touch them or have them jump up & slobber on you (mostly a dog problem).

Such a relief to have someone say this. I actually have a fear of both. I had to stop jogging when dogs off the leash would nip at my ankles while their owners looked on, smiling like proud parents thinking that I was playing with their pet while in truth I was running for my life.

Another Londoner here. Used to see loads of things, had a few years hiatus for various boring reasons, and am just getting back into the swing of seeing regular theatre again!

I totally sympathise. I often used to go for walks on a hill near us but haven't been for a while because I just got too nervous of being jumped on by dogs. I'd be trying not to have a panic attack while a dog (frequently Labradors) jumped up at me then the owner would finally turn up and say "Don't worry. He won't bite you.". That's not the point. I have bad OCD & having muddy paw prints & dog slobber on me makes me extremely stressed. I don't think some dog owners realise how intimidating large, badly-behaved dogs can be.
