Martin McDonagh's The Pillowman is overdue for a revival, I second Stoppard's The Invention of Love and Night and Day although I'd love to also see The Real Inspector Hound, Rock n Roll or On The Razzle revived as well and having seen a lot of the American classics in the last couple of years, I'd love to see O'Neill's Mourning Becomes Electra and The Iceman Cometh and also The Night of the Iguana by Tennessee Williams.
Did anyone ever see Penelope Skinner's The Village Bike? I saw her last play Linda at the Royal Court and enjoyed it and I would like to see get a revival.

I thought that My Night With Reg was excellent and would love to see it again. I saw it after the transfer to the Apollo so would love to see it in an intimate setting!

I wonder if Martin McDonagh will ever let The Banshees of Inisheer be produced? It's the final part of the Aran Islands trilogy which he's written but never published or produced.

Play's I'd like to see again which I saw a few years ago are: Racing Demon, Too Clever by half, Fuenteovejuna, the Rover, Fair maid of the west and Absurd Person Singular.
I'd like to see the Effect again which really should have gone to the West End, another is The Seafarer a play/production which was a hit at the National but never transferred to the West End but did go to Broadway.
I don't recall seeing School for Scandal and having read about how Jim Dale's career changed after he appeared as Scapino, I am interested to see a production of it.
I was looking forward to seeing the Pillowman revival but not sure its happening?

Back to Stoppard, its 15 years since the NT last revived Jumpers with SRB. Somehow i missed it, time for it again? Oh dear god! Was that an NT production? I saw that in Sheffield with my parents and we walked out because we loathed it. We were not alone by a long chalk - the car park attendant laughed when we came out and said he knew when the intervals were with this show because there were large numbers leaving every night. I don't remember anything about it now, but my dad still shudders every time SRB comes on tv and talks about that awful play we saw in Sheffield that time. |

Torch Song Trilogy - 2012 at the Menier - so not that long ago really.
It will be interesting to see how it does on Broadway later this year. Now retitled Torch Song - it is a streamlined version of the original (4.5 hours is a lot to ask of the audience)
In terms of casting, I really don't know. My gut tells me that it is better to have someone who is probably Jewish American in terms of heritage - someone for whom the accent and shared history is already part of their DNA. Arnold is such a demanding role - I want someone who just is Arnold rather than someone who has to act being Arnold - if that makes sense.
Michael Urie (who is the Arnold in the revival) just looks a bit too pretty/young for it. Harvey has always had that lived-in quality to him that made his Arnold so viscerally real.
One name that I would be intrigued to see in the role is Roy Haylock. It would seem to some like stunt casting - but he has a theatre background and has the edge for Arnold (as well as the heart)

I saw Coram Boy at the NT Archives. Not the same but it's quite a good recording.

People, Places and Things That would seem a bit soon. It has had the original NT run, the West End transfer and a reasonably wide ranging tour. Before it transferred to NYC. I think that has had a fair amount of exposure for a few years. It's never too soon to bring back a monumental work like this is. |

I suspect it will be a least a couple more years before someone does a new production of it. The UK tour only finished at the end of 2017. Headlong might tour it again as it did sell well. But I suspect they will have moved on to different projects now. I can see Birmingham Rep or a similar theatre taking on a new production in a couple of years. |

I saw that production of Jumpers on Broadway - first time I had seen SRB who was brilliant in it, as was Essie Davis - and loved it. The evening was notable in that Steve Martin was sitting in front of us - he loved it too.

Hangmen is the top of my list also. So jealous to see it extending in NYC at the moment. Also I regret not seeing Peter and Alice by John Logan when it was done by the Michael Grandage Company, it looked and sounded fantastic. It may have been a revival, but I'm gutted I missed Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead at The Old Vic last year. Peter and Alice had a lovely design and some nice performances but it was underwhelming overall. |

A play I would like to see again is The Plain Dealer by Wycherley. Wycherley and restoration comedy seem to be making a return, but this play sticks in my mind because it was not the typical restoration comedy, but included other themes as well as courtship. I saw it in 1989 at the RSC.

Vanbrugh's The Relapse - no major revival since 2001 that I can track down. A great, great script with huge potential with the right cast.
On my list of more contemporary plays to tackle at some point is Mother Clap's Molly House. Ravenhill's script has always intrigued me and it could be ripe for a revival.
I do also have Dorothy L Sayer's original stage version of Busman's Honeymoon on my list. I reckon it is time to bring Lord Peter Wimsey back to prominence!

To be honest, I thought it was longer ago than 15 years, I was thinking more like 17-20, because in my memory it was just after I moved to Sheffield (1998) but before I bought my house (2000) - I'm old and forgetful though, so I may well be wrong. I can't check my programme because I didn't keep it, which is a sign of how much I hated it. |

Jumpers is one of the (very) few things I’ve walked out of... A bit of Googling tells me that it was in August 1985. I did remember that it was at the Aldwych Theatre, and I also remember that it featured Felicity Kendal, and I think she descended from the flies on a crescent moon. I think there were gymnasts... That’s it. Turned me off Stoppard for good. But I really like (  ) Ed.
