 The standout for me in today's announcement of Chichester's upcoming season is The Chalk Garden starring Penelope Keith, Amanda Root and Oliver Ford Davies. It's a play I love, and I've never seen Penelope on stage (although I did have an opportunity to meet her--she was so gracious and lovely!) so it should be fun. Anyone else looking forward to it? |

Absolutely, still upset about missing the last London production with Margaret Tyzack and also love Amanda Root.

That Grandage production was one of his best ever, and one of the very best things the Donmar has ever done. PK is no Maggie Tyzack, helas and helack ....

It is a very 'Chichester' show but that's no bad thing if there is varied season. I'd like to see this. Oliver Ford Davies is great too.

I too thought "SO Chichester" but then I saw the quote by Kenneth Tynan about it being the funniest play since the Restoration; I wouldn't describe Tynan as typically Chichester.

Ha I had exactly the same thought. This is SO Chichester. I can see the audience now.. And what's wrong with us elderly frequenters of Chichester? We are generally too infirm to carry large amounts of food and drink into the auditorium to annoy other members of the audience, and just because it takes us ten minutes to get from our seat to the exit after the show shouldn't reflect badly on the merits of the play itself! Go the oldies....at least some of us are supporting a range of live theatre in a variety of venues around the South of England! These comments are made in a light-hearted manner so no stones, please! |

It will no doubt attract the usual Chichester audience, especially at matinees. So? I am hoping to drag my old bones to see this and also "Me and My Girl", another great show, although the journey from Wembley is getting more than I can comfortably manage these days. |
