Finally a cast to get excited about! I won't be seeing the this cast unless they're still in the tour when it allegedly returns to the UK again for Birmingham etc. (or has this been confirmed?) It's just heartening to see some completely new faces in the cast (new to Wicked, anyway). Exciting to see Natasha Ferguson in the ensemble again. Hopefully she'll still be an Elphaba understudy. I loved her in Brum on tour! Oh i saw her in Birmingham too. She was my first (and only) Elphaba. I saw her twice (what are the odds!). I really liked her. |

Yes I imagine so, as Natasha Ferguson was 2nd u/s last time and I believe only went on a couple of times. Like Andy614, I feel very fortunate to have seen her. Having such a young actress in the role of Elphaba really changed the dynamics of the show for me (and I'm not one to worry about the age of actresses in the role. Willemijn Verkaik is still my no.1, so I certainly don't think a younger actress is necessary, but in this case I'm particularly excited about it!) |

I for one am really surprised that they didn't go down the alternate Elphaba route given that both Nikki and Ashleigh had vocal problems at the end of their run. And with this tour being (mostly?) in Asia, it might even be a bigger challenge for the cast because of the different hotter and more humid climate.

It's very likely for there to be 2 Elphaba u/s. If they need 4 Elphabas in the West End, they'll certainly need them on an exhausting tour with probably even more traveling than on the UK/Ireland tour |

Wow Bradley Jades as Fiyero could be A BOMB.
I hope they'll add at least a couple of european dates because I can't really travel to SIngapore.
Damn it seems a great cast.

Yeah, I'm hoping for some european dates too. I'm from Belgium and we don't have that many big productions here. It would be great to have a big show like this over. I already tweeted the biggest theatre production company in Belgium about this and they replied with "Thanks for the tip". Maybe we should all pressure our local theatres into having the show over.  I think that if one European date is announced, a lot more will follow |

Could it be a rights issue? I think Stage Entertainment own the Wicked rights for at least Germany and Holland, maybe also for Switzerland and Austria. Could this tour stop in these countries, would they have to pay royalties, would Stage have to be involved?

That would give the Dutch people the chance to see it as well if it didn't go to The Netherlands because of the rights. And there are a bunch of big countries in Europe that haven't had a production of Wicked yet. France, Spain, Italy etc. Here in Belgium we also have a big 2000 seat theatre that could accommodate the show easily |

If Stage is not planning to bring back this production soon they will probably allow a booking with their name hanging on there somewhere if a theatre wants it on their programm.

Zoe George has confirmed via twitter that she is indeed still covering Elphaba and Nessa!
Nicholas Corre is 1st cover Boq too. We should start drawing up a list again!
further edit- Natasha Ferguson is also covering Elphaba and Nessa again.

Any idea who will be standby and understudies for Glinda? On the last tour there was no official Standby - Carina Gillespie (Nessarose) was the 1st cover Glinda and acted as the standby would, i.e. going on for Glinda whenever the lead was off! Emily Shaw is Nessarose on the new tour - I saw her as Princess Jasmine in Qdos' Aladdin at Christmas and she has got a good voice, but didn't sing anything that would show if she could/couldn't sing Glinda. I would expect that the Nessa track will cover Glinda again, but it's certainly no guarantee - time will tell! EDIT: Elizabeth Futter is 1st cover Glinda |
