For those who don't like the fact that they didn't cast a completely new lead Elphaba, we're gonna have a fabulous new standby
Thank you for this! I loved every second of this, cannot wait to her sing The Wizard and I!

Gives me hope they are keeping a brand new Elphaba for London Probably. However, I still think a short return of Rachel Tucker is possible for the 10th. But I'm pretty sure that if she returned, it would only be for a few months

You're welcome. She's incredible. What a voice. She won't have any trouble hitting the high notes. I can't wait to hear her belt out Defying Gravity. If the tour comes to my country I'll very likely go see it at least twice. I'll try to catch both Jackie and Jodie, if she has any scheduled performances

Could just be hearsay but you never know!

I know many people won't like it because they want a new Elphaba, but I just feel like we need one of the best Elphabas ever to come back for the anniversary. A 3 month run would be perfect so we still get a completely new Elphaba after that

If it comes to Belgium, I'll see it at least twice (probably more). If she has some scheduled dates then, I'll definitely try to catch one of her performances.

Booked for the last show - a Sunday matinee. Odd they're doing Sundays?

Booked for the last show - a Sunday matinee. Odd they're doing Sundays? I don't think it's odd at all, in fact I think more shows should do Sunday's! For a show like Wicked whose key target market is families/younger folk, chances are you'll get more people interested in a Sunday afternoon than a Monday night. Plus, many regional venues charge a higher price for weekend performances, so it's appealing to the venue!

Still reeling from this amazing casting news and am now really sad I didn't push to book another three shows like I had planned to do initially, which would've allowed me to see the entire closing week of the venue! So excited to see how Jackie changes her portrayal as lead and how she deals with the role vocally now that she'll (presumably) be doing 8 shows per week!

You might be able to see some extra shows if the tour comes to Europe. Belgium, the Netherlands, France etc. aren't that far away

Well unfortunately Ireland and the UK are my limits for travel on the show, so I hope the Dublin or Birmingham rumors are true as I honestly could not see Jackie enough times, she is phenomenal, and I am sure both her acting and vocals will improve with her being lead as I think every s/b who has gone to lead has changed their portrayal drastically when they take the reins. Jackie will be my first Elphaba who I will have seen as both s/b and lead so it will be very interesting to see the changes she makes, although I hope she makes her "from me" riff in Defying Gravity a permanent thing, I hate when it's sung to score (by an Elphaba, that is)
By the way, has anyone booked tickets for Bradford or any of the Asia stops yet, I'd love to hear all of your thoughts on the cast as the tour progresses!

By the way, has anyone booked tickets for Bradford or any of the Asia stops yet, I'd love to hear all of your thoughts on the cast as the tour progresses! I've got tickets for Bradford on 28th July. I've only seen Wicked once before so won't have too much to compare the tour to. I'm only going again because Bradford is my local theatre, so I thought I couldn't miss this chance to see it it again. I saw it in the West End back in 2010 (I think) , when it was Rachel Tucker and Louise Dearman in the lead roles.

Just booked the final three shows in Bradford and there aren't many tickets left!
Seeing some of the cast tweet about costume fittings and rehearsals starting on Monday I'm getting excited to see this on tour again!

I'm still hoping for it to do some European stops so I can go see the tour. It's been a while since they've announced some new venues.

Last I heard they knew the first 3 or 4 locations and then it was all rumours and guess work. Yeah, I think they just haven't been booked for any other dates yet. Manila, Singapore and Hong Kong were all announced within a period of like 2 or 3 weeks. Now it's been silent ever since the cast announcement over a month ago. And they haven't announced a new venue since April or early May. I think they might be making a big mistake if they're only focussing on Asia. There are so many countries in Europe that haven't had a production of Wicked yet and where the tour would be a big success.
