Anyone going to the concert tomorrow night at the Garrick in memory of Chris Hardman? I nabbed one of the mid-Stalls seats when it was discounted earlier this week, I'm rather excited! all proceeds of the concert go to a suicide support charity, and there are (at the time of writing this haha), just 18 seats left, though they are expensive. However, interesting to see that the actual show is promoting bad behavior haha, although I suppose as it is a concert and it has a younger fanbase, its kinda unsurprising. And it's one night only. Hopefully it won't make those in the audience think they can do this at other shows.

Brilliant night tonight! I'll do a full write up when I get home, but the cast were amazing, audience was electric and the whole thing was just magical. Some emotional moments due to the circumstances of the concert, but made for a wonderful atmosphere. I will add, the audience were very well behaved for the most part, I was surprised! The worst audience member was James Bourne haha. He was sat behind me and had clearly had a glass or two of wine, he was in good spirits and perfectly lovely. But he cheered so loud during random moments, literally the only one in the theatre, and it drew so much attention that at the start of the show no one even noticed he was there, but by interval, there was a line from the middles stalls to around the back of the stalls just to get a picture.

I was one of the fangirly people getting him to sign my SOD album at the interval......I have no regrets 😂 Great night!

So just to get my thoughts down now looking bsck on it, and I like to write up my thoughts on most things I see. A great evening! This was my first experience of the show. I never saw it in London, bar a few songs I don't know the score and in truth I only went because I knew it was popular and Aaron, Luke and Stewart were in the cast. I thought the score was great, and whilst a thin plot, was fun to watch. I was concerned that the fangirls would ruin it, especially as some I met int he line had been over 20 times in London, expecting cheering at random moments etc, but James Bourne was the only one doing that. Everyone was very much respectful and bar the odd whoop here and there from the great unwashed, it was a great atmosphere. Aaron was fantastic, a true leading man! He started laughing and mucked up a few times, but it was to be expected! He has a great voice and is hilarious, really great. Stewart was suitably hilarious and Richard Lowe was fabulous too! Ashley, who obviously had to reprisenthe role originated by Lil' Chris that he took over in London, did the role justice and was brilliant in my opinion. Some jokes didn't land, such as one that clearly needed props. There was a joke continuously about foil that I still don't get. There was also 6 people sat at the back of the stage who paid £500 to be in the Ensemble. They were awkwardly just sat or stood there, and didn't join in the show. Great for charity, but otherwise, no point in having them there. I thought the lighting was great, really fabulous! The Planitarium scene was beautiful in Act 1. The cast and most of the audience held up their mobile phone tourches and the whole theatre was glittering with stars it was beautiful and stangely emotional, it was kinda because of the circumstances of the concert me. At the end, full standing ovation followed by both James and Elliot coming on (cue another standing ovation), they thanked everyone in the show and the audience. They then had two people from YMT talk about their charity, followed by Maytree and what they do for people in suicidal crisis. Hey directly referenced Chris and his struggling and taking his life which made myself and several cry I could see. Aaron also was tearing up. It was then followed by a reprise of "Slacker" sung with James and Aaron with another full standing ovation, and then as the stage lights dimmed and the house lights came on whilst the band played and the cqst hugged, the audience began singing "We're Not Alone", which the cast sung along with off mic and the full song was sung, it was a beautiful moment and a fitting end to a fabulous night. I'd love to see a full staging again one day!

Some jokes didn't land, such as one that clearly needed props. There was a joke continuously about foil that I still don't get. It wasn’t really a joke but if you haven’t seen the show before, it’s almost impossible to understand without costumes. Throughout the first act the character of Samantha is seen with bits of silver foil, and Leia questions her about it. At the start of the second act, you then learn that she was using the foil to make her costume for the sci-if convention

Who played Holly as Eliza Hope Bennett couldn't do it? Someone called Charlotte Harwood. She was very good I thought. Nice voice, quite unusual musical theatre tone, but worked well.

Who played Holly as Eliza Hope Bennett couldn't do it? Charlotte Harwood was Holly and Lauren Hall was Leia, which was the understudy situation with the original London production. Ashley Tucker, who played Elaine in the original YMT production, took on the same role last night in place of Lauren.

I didn't even realise there was any changes to the original line up until I left bar obviously Ashley Luke Lloyd who understudied then took over as Francis. Which, on the topic of Ashley, here is a clip he filmed live during the phone torch moment... if it doesn't load as it isn't for me, just go to his instagram, its the first clip. http://instagr.am/p/Beit41jhqzZv-WWD7b0T5KkeJ_hjaZ2mEmwaOU0
