Oh this sounds exciting. Has been on my radar for a bit and wanted it to come to London but seemed a bit odd for the meneir and would have imagined it more at Southwark playhouse. I will also probably not else it aswell just based on ticket prices. Look forward to find out more about it.
Some dream casting already, maybe Jenna Russel or even Catherine Tate and Judy Denmark? (Not overly familiar so don't know if they would be quite right)

Does Tina become the ruthless killer or does the mother? It's slightly ambiguous. Also there'd better be an extremely good script-based reason why she has to be fair-skinned.....

This show is a homage to musicals like Gypsy and films like All About Eve where the protagonists will do anything to get ahead. Its very funny and will be a treat for musical lovers who will recognise the references. It’s going into the Arts I understand.

Also there'd better be an extremely good script-based reason why she has to be fair-skinned..... I imagine the reason is they already cast the mother and aren't savvy enough to do colour blind casting. Honestly though, when they point out that "some tap experience preferred", I couldn't care two hoots what colour skin they want. I won't be going anywhere near it.

The part of Tina is supposed to be an obnoxious Shirley Temple parody with the mother a Mama Rose type. Interesting they are billing this as an all female show. The part of Sylvia is traditionally played by a man.

Just started listening to this. Sounds an absolute hoot and exactly my kind of thing!
Interesting one of the lyrics is about overpriced musicals, I guess the producers haven’t read the libretto...

Oh will definalty want to see it now Tracie is in I. It doesn't say what part she is playing though, is she too old to play Judy Denmark?

Yeah, I'd hoped they were going to put characters against the actors but seeing as Kim Maresca played Judy Denmark in the recent Off-Broadway revival, I'd presume she'd be doing the same here. Harriet Thorpe for the "I Hate Musicals" character maybe? Would be wonderful! So maybe Tracie would be the teacher?

Holy crap, now Tracie is announced, I am so there! I can't stand Jason, but sacrifices must be made.

Anyone heading to the Arts this weekend or next week for previews? I may do a matinee next week, looking forward to this one, if anything for Tracie Bennett! If no one has seen leaflets in town, Tracie is playing the critic and Harriet Thorpe is playing the teacher.

I definitely really want to go at some point! If anyone has a 16-25 railcard, I got an email that had some deals for cheap tickets (20 Shows at £20 or Less), there were £19.50 (down from £39.50) seats available for this (back of dress circle, back of stalls and 2nd row stalls) as well as some other discounts for this and other shows. Worth checking out if it applies!

Went to the first preview last night and it's in very good shape. Really enjoyed the show which is hilarious and so OTT. As I expected Tracie Bennett stole the show even though her part as the critic is quite small. She was channelling her inner Judy Garland. The person who surprised me was Jason Gardner who was hilarious and has a pretty good voice.
Don't mean this in a snobby way but it's very niche and I think you have to be a fan of musical theatre to understand it. Otherwise you would not get the send up of shows and films and just find it bewildering. Of course board members will get it totally. Ushers were very forceful before the show started and were shouting out every 20 seconds telling people that photography was not permitted. Yes we heard you first time thanks.

Ive been a long time lurker so thought I’d better join in now !! I was there last night too and really enjoyed it ! Jason Gardiner was fab and could really sing . The first half was approx 1 hr 5 mins and then a 15 min interval and then 45 mins for the 2nd half . The bar staff were only informed there was an interval that night !
Off to see Harry Potter today which I’m sure will be an entirely different experience 😂

In London to see a list of shows and saw a preview of Ruthless last night. I am huge fan of the cast recording but did not know the show very much. The cast was really impressive for the preview performance. Of course Tracie Bennett can do anything but other like Jason Gardnier and Harriet Thourpe were hysterical. The show has load of theatrical references. The audience last night was quite full and we left the theatre still laughing! The Arts is such a small venue but I the production design was really A+. I would recommend it with the discounts out there for sure.
