Laurie Sansom (director) was announced a year ago!
Sion Daniel Young ripped our hearts to shreds in Killology, so Nightfall is now a must-see.
Laurie Sansom would fit the Donmar...

Oh smashing. I love Ophelia Lovibond. Apart from having a fabulous name, she reminds me of a young Millicent Martin which is never a bad thing.

Bridge sent me an offer for this and I've just booked for 26th May matinee. I imagine there'll be more offers about as it's really not selling well at all, judging by the seating plan.
I hope The Bridge has a robust commercial income stream because it's struggling to shift tickets by the look of things and I really like the theatre!

Is the interval madeleines thing not their robust commercial income stream? The way they push them, you'd think they would be, though it would then have been incredibly careless of them to programme Julius Caesar without an interval...

Well, it's a brave choice (in the way that plays by Bean and McDonagh aren't). Relatively unknown writer, though his work comes garlanded with praise from David Hare and Michael Frayn. I enjoyed his first novel, Five Rivers Met on a Crowded Plain, set in Salisbury, so will look out for reviews for this, but there's no need to book in advance. But here's hoping this helps him make the leap from the Bush to a bigger stage (metaphorically and literally).

I suspect they balance the more riskier stuff like Nightfall with bankers like Julius Caesar and the upcoming plays by Alan Bennett and Martin McDonagh.

The play was originally meant to run for much longer, but they cancelled performances to fit in 3 weeks of My Name is Lucy Barton. I took that opportunity to take a refund as my booking was for a cancelled performance.
I wonder if there were a second space at the Bridge (smaller, more experimental), this would suit it better? But maybe the critics will love it, and it will take off from there, as a new play, new playwright, unknown cast is always going to be a hard sell. Something which might work in the Young Vic or Almeida, but difficult for such a sizeable theatre.

I also received the offer but wonder how BN's work will fill so large a space, so think I will hold off for reviews. When I heard he had written a book I was keen to read it but when it was eventually published, I couldn't even make it through the first chapter because of the ludicrous and offensive amount of effing. The reviews were ecstatic yet no-one mentioned this. Fortunately I haven't experienced the same with BN's plays and yes, I know it was the character who spoke or thought in that way, but it was a bridge too far for me.

The Bridge will be losing money from their caffeine lovers too. Last time I went in there, pre-Caesar, at 6:10pm, I ordered a latte, and they said "Sorry, we switch off the machine pre-show now as coffees take too long to make". That's crazy! Other theatres (eg Almeida and Hampstead) will only do filter coffee in the interval but doing that before the show is very odd. Any kind souls like to share the offer, unless it was targetted to members?

The discount is supposed to be automatic when you buy, so no codes etc.

Last time I went in there, pre-Caesar, at 6:10pm, I ordered a latte, and they said "Sorry, we switch off the machine pre-show now as coffees take too long to make". And when I was there for Caesar, I’d planned to try the post-show St John snacks, because I’d had a large lunch, to be told “we’re not doing them tonight” - there was a private event, which hadn’t been mentioned in the preshow email, which encouraged me to preorder for after the show...

Got a second row stalls ticket via TodayTix for £15: all they had in similar positions on the Bridges own website was £65, so a steal.

Good spot! They seem to have row BB tickets on sale for £15 for the whole run. Oddly, though, the Bridge Theatre's own website shows row A as the front row of the stalls.
So either TodayTix is selling tickets for rows that don't exist, or the Bridge is selling front row seats which aren't actually in the front row.

Thats what I was thinking looking at both sites online - maybe the Bridge is waiting for the run to start before updating their seating plan (I'm just hoping its not onstage seating or something similar)

Seating plan on the Bridge website for this is now showing 'Rows AA & BB - sold via TodayTix' so it looks like they're going to do exclusive deals for shows at the Bridge (I'm guessing the ones that need more of a sales push) through TodayTix.

Looks to me that there is some dynamic downwards pricing going on for this - some of the stalls seats which I think were previously top price (eg row H front facing) are now £15

Bad news
Uppermost level closed off for this evening
Rest of house maybe 60% full
Not good
I do wonder about this theatre
The need for another venue
Which they can’t fill
Why not concentrate on those already existing
And fill them
With people and quality work

God
This play should not be on here
No wonder it’s half empty
And the theatre is so twattish
They have unisex toilets
