I watched - this is the round I'm normally good at - and am absolutely ashamed to say I got none. Nada. Zilch. Nimic. Big fat gornisht.

I won’t cheat, as I saw this on the said programme in the background, when I heard Victoria Corin mention musicals, my ears pricked up, for some unknown reason - Let’s say you wouldn’t want me on your quiz team, very red faced.

I thought the point was that no vowels are allowed! Nope. That is exactly the point of the round in the show, so I think it should be the same here - no vowels allowed, squish up the consonants.

For the attention of BurlyBeaR : I don’t watch the programme this quiz featured on, but it seemed fairly clear to me in your four separate posts that a) the clues were written in capitals b) there were no vowels and c) spacing was random so as to make it harder to guess. When I queried the rules (each quiz/puzzle has rules, right?) I was met with a curt “Nope.” Such rudeness was unnecessary. It’s not the first time you have addressed fellow posters dismissively; in fact on another occasion I can recall one poster challenged what they called your ‘passive aggressive’ attitude. I remember ‘liking’ the post. As members of any forum we are aware of its rules and its ‘unwritten’ rules. Although courtesy to fellow posters is normally a rule, some forums (like Digital Spy, for example) seem to encourage banter, putdowns, and insults. We are not without our share of barbed posters on here, but nastiness is usually the exception not the norm, and I’d assumed that one of the unwritten rules of Theatreboard was that we don’t address each other rudely or dismissively. So it’s just understood that we’d never use the words “mate” or “love” towards each other- unless in (obvious) jest- and I’d put starting a response to someone with “erm...” and using a solitary “nope” in the same category. I didn’t feel you were joking when you addressed me thus. It was an attempt to ridicule me for seeking clarification. I didn’t appreciate it. I also didn’t appreciate you calling me names, albeit indirectly, with your comment about pedants. Its clear implication was that I am one, with its overtones of being an arrogant stickler for getting things right. Yes, I do try to word things accurately and I always try to check my facts when I post on here (or anywhere else for that matter) and I’m sorry that this upsets you. However, I don’t think I’m arrogant with it... I take issue with name-calling, something I’ve challenged you about in the past when you called certain celebrities “bitch” and “tosser”. I also take issue with it being done publicly on the forum in the way that you have done, naming me. Once again it seems it was in an attempt to ridicule me. As other posters have commented in the past, your role as one of the moderators on here comes with some responsibility. And one of those responsibilities is surely to set some kind of example of acceptable behaviour. You have the option to ‘Ignore’ my posts if they piss you off. (I block one or two posters myself for the same reason...) Unfortunately we don’t have the option to ‘Ignore’ any of the Admin Team.

I will and I have done, I was only pointing out the rules of the round on Only Connect (which presumably you know given you clearly watch the show). You asked for members to make up their own versions of the question, so it's only fair that they are all done in the same vein - i.e. in compliance with the rules of the show. Otherwise it isn't the same quiz, it's just a random missing letter game.
