Goosebumps remembering the end of part 1 and the effect it had on the audience. There was as mentioned people who only opted to see part 2, there were people when I went and queued in standing for part 2 and the Young Vic had a part 1 synopsis they gave out, I didn't see them afterward to learn how much it made sense though but I agree about the emotional impact and build up. Ahh Kyle Soller that was such a good performance, i'd go again if it didn't require me to break the bank.

Whilst I had some reservations about the play (in need of quite swingeing dramaturgy in my opinion) - there's no doubt is is one play - not two - indeed i'd have much rather a very long play (with aforementioned editing) than spread over two performances. Although that said I'm planning to see it in different weeks this time - to see it it changes how I feel. The performance are, however, utterly flawless - with Kyle Soller anchoring the piece magnificently with real subtle calibration across the six hours. And I agree Paul Hilton's monologue was an absolute highlight for me. Yes, what I wouldn't give to go at it with my editing/dramaturg's pen. Fantastic work, but work that could have been done in one monster 4 hour play rather than the 6ish it took to get there. But Paul Hilton can keep that monologue. |

Flew to London from JFK on the morning flight on the 17th of August.
Standing next to me as I was waiting to board my flight was
John Benjamin Hickey. He said he was returning to London to begin rehersal
for the transfer and that the whole company was very excited. He said
Matthew Lopez was also on the flight. We talked for about ten minutes.
Genuinely sweet and pleasant man. Looking forward to seeing the show in Nov.
Only bummer was finding out the 30 pound discount if you booked for both parts
ends at the end of October. Unfortunately Mr.Hickey wasn't wearing a cardigan.

I only saw Part 1 first time round (due to ticket availability), so this time I thought I'd just get a ticket to part 2. Turns out I can't resist the urge to see Part 1 again. I agree with all the comments, the ending was so emotional, I cried like a baby. I'm taking tissues this time.

Looks like the two seats at either end of row B aren't on sale (reserved as the day seats perhaps)? Think there's a decent chance of this being the front row, so the row B seats are a bargain.

theatrefan77 Yes, thanks so much for the heads up on this! I LOVE this board! Just booked 2 evening performances at the end of the month! An absolute bargain - I missed this at the Young Vic and like @n1david I didn't want to see it from the back or spend a fortune!

Hadn’t read the book or seen the film when I saw it, didn’t really have an impact as I wanted to let the story unfold with no expectations.
Planning to read the book before seeing it again in December to hopefully provide a different perspective and appreciation of the play.

I would strongly advice against reading the book or seeing the brilliant film. The play follows it so closely it will remove any of the drama by knowing what is coming and going to happen to each of the characters. |

Well each to his own nash16 but I've read the book three times (I'd put it in my top ten favourite books) and seen the film countless times, not to mention the recent excellent tv series and it definitely enhanced my pleasure - although I also think it's perfectly comprehendable without. I certainly didn't feel knowing the original had a 'spoiler' effect. It's undoubtedly the best thing I've seen this year. |

All you have to know is Tom was made redundant and has now invested in a boat yard which upsets his wife Jan who then opens her own fashion boutique. |

Have the stalls row B seats yet to come on sale for later in the run? Also any idea if they're likely to be at a 'good' price. There's still a few left for previews but I can't go until later.

I booked row B in the stalls for £20 which I swear was the second row when I booked but is now the front row and classed as restricted view! Can't complain for £20 though!

Can’t see how it will end up as restricted view, unless perhaps they have a second stage on the main stage to allow the actors to wait around it (as at the Young Vic). |

At the Young Vic the front row was very slightly restricted at times as part of the stage is raised in some scenes, but you didn’t miss much really, just needed to look up
