I am new member and this is my first post so apologies if this question has already been asked! Can anyone tell me the format of this show? Is there a story/plot or is it concert style? Thanks

Thanks Firstly welcome! Its story/plot based. Though the first half has elements of unintentional concert as some know who have seen it, but mainly a story plot!

Thank you Trying to decide whether to book tickets on tour as I know it has rave reviews in the West End. As tickets are so expensive I have to decide if its worth it especially as there are no captions (I am deaf and use them to follow plot as well as lyrics). Some musicals are visual enough to make up for missing stuff and others are not. Hard to judge, but thanks for your help

If that works out then I'd definitely reccomend this show. I'm not a jukebox musical fan, but this show was just joyous. I saw the OLC but I'm sure it's just as good in London with the new cast. Excited to see who they get for the tour too!

Just want to state this getting back to the issue of weight...by criticizing Alan for gaining weight, it's implying that it's his fault. I am on medication for a jaw issue which cause me to gain weight in my belly area. I go to the gym 5x week and am quite healthy and it doesn't do much as the meds change your metabolism. So I've put on some weight but for the first time in a while, I'm not in pain.
Before criticizing, realize that this is his journey not yours and you don't know his circumstances.

Is the demand there for this to continue in London past September?
Currently only booking until July

Because there is no published New Wimbledon date, it gives me the slight feeling it won't be closing in London just yet... am I crazy in thinking that?

They can use the same set for the Tour. It will have done a respectful two and a half years. Surely it would have announced an extension by now, if the demand was there. I notice on tkts it's always discounting.

Two and a half years is a great run anyway, so if it doesclose, its not like it has been a failiure. I can see it doing a Made in Dagenham style closing of adding an addional two weeks and havingan actual annouced closing date rather than just having the 22nd July be it. Also gives thwn a chanve to reallyget some more ticket sales by advertising as a final month or something. :

I'd love to see Rachel Tucker play Carole King on tour. I think she did audition for the North American tour.
On a completely unrelated side note: What's your preference: Use this thread to also discuss the tour (and change the thread subject accordingly) or have a new thread for the tour?

I'd wait for news of a closing/extension to decide what to do with the thread. If it is closing in July, you may as well keep this thread as the tour one too, but if they are running alongside one another, then I'd have separate, just to avoid confusion.

Natasha Barnes said in an interview last year that her dream role would be Carole King in Beautiful. With the Funny Girl tour finishing in August, the dates would work pretty much perfectly for her to then go into this.

I think Nikki Davis-Jones would also be brilliant. Shame she isn't doing stage work currently/any more.

I think Nikki Davis-Jones would also be brilliant. Shame she isn't doing stage work currently/any more. Yeah what is she actually doing? I know she blew her voice out on the Wicked tour and couldn't do the London run, but I have heard nothing of her since? Is she ok? Whats new with her? I like her a lot.

I think that was a case. Something makes me think she ventured into catering but can't think why
Her twitter suggests coffee wagon owner. Wheely Good Coffee Company

Not wanting to stray too far off topic, but yeah, she had a vocal issue which caused her to pull out of Wicked. Since then, to my knowledge, she hasn't performed on stage - she's done a solo show at the Battersea Barge and was Assistant Director (I think) on that Alice in Wonderland musical at the St James a year or so ago.
Currently she runs a mobile coffe company from the back of her VW Camper along with Chloe Taylor (previous Standby Glinda). I don't think she ever ruled out a return to the stage, but not knowing the extent to which her voice was damaged it's hard to say what she'd be physically able to do now.
Shame though, she is/was a cracking talent.

They are probably touring it as it could close before the tour opens? Not sure, I enjoyed the show when I saw it last year but not sure. It didn't work when Guys and Dolls toured but also extended their run at the Phoenix..
