Concerning the lowest displayed price for a show. I know there are high minimum prices for some one-off shows (especially audiences with some Hollywood star). However, how about this? I was recently handed a leaflet (and then checked the website) about "Shen Yun" which is on for ten performances at the Dominion Theatre in February. The lowest price ticket is £60 - that's for seats that are currently £19.50 for American in Paris (e.g. rear two rows of the circle). [Most of central block of stalls are one of four price levels above £100].
This seems widely over optimistic (even if billed as "Absolutely THE NO. 1 SHOW in the world"!). They might think there is a sufficient Chinese audience in London to pick up tickets, but experience of recent shows touring from China were that they were heavily papered with far fewer performances.

This is why I don't go to the Menier Chocolate Factory anymore. I can't book in advance due to the nature of my job, and you are penalised with higher prices when booking late. The opposite is true for Southwark Playhouse and their PAYG membership.
Elf was very much the same way when it played the Dominion and I didn't see it.

I was boggling at the Shen Yun prices, too, as I love that kind of Asian show and wondered about seeing this.
I wonder how much of this is "greed" and how much this is normal-ish for that kind of show. We're having the Cirque du Soleil in town next week and the minimum price is 70 EUR and top price 102 EUR, which is about £60 / £95, much like Shen Yun, but in a far bigger arena the size of the O2, so you'll be much further away than even at the back of the Dress Circle of the Dominion.
Big rock/pop concerts are way over £100 too and there's a whole of scenery, costumes, etc to drag around the world, which are costs normal musicals don't have (and also accommodation costs for the performers, crew, etc.).
I agree that there should be some cheaper seats available, but I'm not all that surprised. It depends on what you get for it.
