Wonderful little production. Great cast and I really enjoyed the show, even if the plot line is a bit odd. Distinctly Lloyd Webber, some lovely melodies. Agree! You sum up what I felt much more succinctly :-)

Cancelled again tonight. Twice I've tried to go, twice it's been cancelled. Starting to think they don't want me to see it!

May I ask how many hours' notice is being given for cancellations? I'm booked for Tuesday matinee so there aren't a lot of other show options to see instead if it gets cancelled when I'm already en route to London or have arrived there.

Anybody know how much Madalena does in that part in the show? I was looking forward to seeing her but don’t really know the show and I am tempted to move the tickets to another date?

I'm sure a lot of us are thinking how lucky you are to get to see such a unique performance. Jessie May was good in Hair. The only downside is she's performing with the script, but I'm sure you won't notice after a while.

I couldn't understand what Madalena was singing so today could be an improvement.

Two big songs, couple of duets and few bits in between. A significant but not lead role I would say. She's great, but it's worth going just to see Kelly Price who is phenomenal.

Southwark Playhouse were fabulous and moved me to another date with no quibbles or charges. Lovely

I hope Madalena Alberto has recovered by Tuesday. While I usually don't mind seeing understudies, I've only booked this show in order to see her & Kelly Price.

This wasn't my cup of tea I'm afraid. I like Webber when he does standout memorable songs. This had maybe four. Otherwise it felt very long and a bit of a chore. Felix also wasn't a very strong leading man, either in his acting or his vocals. Rob Houchen would've sung it out of the park, if he wasn't currently sunning himself in Aruba.
Madalena has bronchitis. Jessie did a brilliant job, yes she has a script in hand but is able to sing it in a way that you don't really notice and her voice is lovely.
Also it looked like a full house today so the show appears to be doing well. Standing ovation from most at the end. Just not from me sadly 😀

Fortunately today's matinee happened & with the full cast so Madalena Alberto has evidently recovered, which I was very pleased about as she & Kelly Price were the people I wanted to see. My seat was pretty good - just a few times when I wished I hadn't been looking at the back of Kelly Price's head - so no need for BurlyBeaR to do anything to @theatremonkey! My opinion of the show overall was the same as when I saw it on tour about 10 years ago: lovely music, pity about the characters! I liked the production, though the amount of furniture re-arranging done by the ensemble did seem a little excessive at times. I thought Kelly Price gave the best performance, really excellent, followed by Madalena Alberto. Jerome Pradon was mostly good but had some odd ennunciation at times. Felix Mosse was more convincing as a 17-19 year old than a 30+ year old & his singing sounded slightly off-key at times.

Saw this on Monday evening. Full cast.
The show was just as good as I remember from Hope Mill. Most of the same cast too. The stage layout is slightly different (it seemed bigger), which worked well.
Unusually, they have the props laid out on a table for you to look at where you queue to enter the theatre. That is very trusting as some of the small items could easily go missing, although I guess this also says something about the typical clientele who attend the Southwark Playhouse.
The table seats (where I was sat) were mostly full. The remainder was about half full, clustered mostly in the seats with the front view.
I was quite happy with my central table seat and its excellent view, but it isn't the most comfortable and as a single theatre goer, you do end up close to the people either side. The seating map when I booked was rather deceptive as I thought I was in an end seat, but turned out to be in the middle of four, not that it really mattered.
It is obviously one of those shows people have mixed views about. The couple sat one side of me didn't return after the interval and I noticed a few more empty seats.
The standout is easily Kelly Price, but Felix Mosse to me is perfect in role of Alex, so sweet that you can't help falling in love even when his singing is occasionally off-pitch. I much prefer the music in the first half of the show. The second half plot and character development is more difficult, but there wouldn't be much of a complete show without it.
Booked to go back before it closes thanks to the great value of Southwark's Pay-As-You-Go subscription, where it only works out at £12 a visit. Although I'll be sat in the side tier, so will get to experience the show from a different perspective.

Songs and performances were great, but I thought the play itself and the characterisation was terrible.
Not massively enamoured with the seco d half creepiness either. YEEESH

This would be a more compelling story if Rose and Alex were characters you could root for, they're actually horrible people if you think about it for more than 30 seconds
