Dear Patron,
Your booking for Saturday 24th December 2.30pm, Only Fools and Horses - The Musical.
Due to the proposed rail strike starting at 12 noon on Christmas Eve and with the ensuing chaos in the West End, for the safety and convenience of patrons and company we have reluctantly decided to cancel the 2.30pm performance of Only Fools and Horses-The Musical.
We are already contacting customers by phone and all tickets can be exchanged for any other performance.

Wonder why they've cancelled when nobody else has?

Wonder why they've cancelled when nobody else has? Les Dennis has tweeted recently about an issue when coming down by train from the Northwest, so I'm guessing he, and possibly other cast members, had no train back home for Xmas, and the producers didn't want to fork out for private transfers, especially if lots of ticket holders were also cancelling. Great shame for those with tickets who could make it though. Has the "show must go on" mantra ever actually been a thing?

They've just announced that Paul Whitehouse is returning as Grandad from January 9th! They've also extended the current booking period from April 1st to April 23rd.
Paul did mention in an interview awhile ago that they're looking to time-share the role, so if the show extends again past April then they might do that.

Extended from 1st April until 29th April. This is a short enough extension. I wonder if it will go beyond that date?

Haven't seen it yet but will. Whenever this closes in the West End it will surely do fantastic business on Tour.

I just want to know how on earth is this show still running?! Because it’s really good? Because OFAH is one of the biggest UK comedies ever and appeals to a lot of the country?

I just want to know how on earth is this show still running?! I know a lot of people on this board find this show’s existence baffling, but the fact is it’s a good show (both in my opinion, critically and with audiences) and there is a good reason why its still running 4 years later. It’s actually really interesting - the actors have mentioned many times that the show acts somewhat as an entryway into theatre (both people who don’t usually go to see theatre, and people who haven’t been back to the West End since the pandemic) Because so many people feel in safe hands with Only Fools and Horses, it’s turned out to be a great way to convince people (especially blokes of a certain age) to go and see theatre and perhaps converting them to seeing other theatre shows in the future.

The show has just reached 1,000 performances tonight! Its apparently now the longest running show at the Haymarket!

It’s been confirmed the show will close on 29 April 2023 with a UK Tour planned. Genuinely devastated. Although I'm very happy that it proved everyone wrong with a 4 year, record breaking run. AND a UK tour planned as well!

Even with the pandemic (which it survived), it's got at least 3 years of regular performances. And regardless of pedantics, its still the longest running show in the Haymarket with 1000 performances under its belt.

The combined run is 2 and a half years which is respectable. Should make a killing on tour.

Wonder what will go to the Haymarket now? It’s a very good sized venue for a lot of shows looking to come in so will be interesting for sure. This did way above many expectations. I have never watched the TV programme but appreciated the show when I saw it. Will do very well on tour.

The combined run is 2 and a half years which is respectable. Should make a killing on tour. Oh I have no doubt the tour will do very well! Considering it appeals to a lot of non-theatre goers, there are a lot of people who wouldn't (or couldn't) take the trip to London to see it who will buy tickets for their local. I don't know if they'll keep the revolve (I don't know enough about theatre mechanics to know if you can transport a revolve), but if not then I hope they find a good way of keeping the smooth scene transitions. Also I really hope Tom Bennett stays at Del Boy. Winning the audiences over when they're measuring you against the original is tough, and Tom really sells it - there's a reason Paul Whitehouse got him to play the role on his and Harry Enfield's TV special (Lovebox in Your Livingroom) over Christmas.

Oh this will absolutely do well on tour, no doubt. It's not something I thought I'd enjoy, I'll admit to being a bit snobbish about it before being dragged and I was really won over. The performances really had to be spot on or I'd have struggled and they were - I just hope they can equal this on tour!

I've seen Only Fools & Horses twice, both times from the front row of the stalls. I decided to book a further visit before its closure via the extension to the OLT New Year Sale and at a lower price. For anyone else interested, the back row (H) of the Dress Circle is OLT sale priced at some Mon / Tues performances for £20 per seat. Full price later in the same weeks is between £77 and £97.
Seems a particularly good discount with no apparent restriction on view.
